I'm curious to know if Joe Satriani is, perhaps, Christian... I've seen
some of his CD's and the names of some of the songs give me this impression..
Any info on him would be great...

As far as I`m aware Joe Satriani has never made any statement of his beliefs..
Once asked in a rock magazine, did he think he`d get into heaven, he replied
he thought he would... I know he`s played with several Christian musicians..
and he`s called his son Zechariah , so I dunno if he is or not.. I know
I get the impression that he _might_ be from song titles, like Always With
Me, Always With You, or Hill Of The Skull ...
Still he`s an awesome musician... I`d still recommend Surfing With The
Alien as the ultimate guitar instrumental album...

Like "Hill of the Skull", for instance.

Ditto, Satch is awesome.

Look out for the "Who are we to judge?", "It doesn't matter, music is music"
and "I'm sick of these 'is X a Christian?' threads", in reply to this.

Cheers,

Greg Bissonette and his brother Greg played for Lanny Cordola on his
"Of Riffs And Symphonies" solo album... which I thought was a very
good instrumental album.. not as good as Joe Satriani, but a good
album nonetheless.... Both Greg and Matt (sorry I tooled up above)
played with Satch on The Extremist and the subsequent tour, so they
appear on live performances on Time Machine... my favourite tracks,
would have to be Crushing Day, Always With You Always With Me, Circles
and Summer Song.. and for real emotion.. Crying..

Greg Bissoneette (opps, one too many eeeee's) played the drum lines on Lanny Cordola's latest release, as well as his brother Matt, who I believe did the bass tracks. I dunno if this has been a reoccuring thing, but a friend of mine just let me borrow the CD, and I noticed the name. But as far as going to say that Satch ios *THE(* guitar player, I would have to STRONGLY disagree. Although he DOES know his stuff, and has taught of a few of what today's taste calls good musicians, I don't aparticularly care

for his tone, style, or songs. But everybody is entitled to their own opinions. Oh well... my 0.02$ worth.. sorry for all the typos, my terminal is going bogus.

possible.

yes you're wrong!!! (no offense) the acoustic pieces are some of my
favorite songs of his. tears in the rain(extremist) is definitely an acoustic
guitar. baroque(time machine) and brother john(not of this earth) sound
like acoustics but they could just be clean electrics. also, sometimes in
concert he plays i believe(flying in a blue dream) with an acoustic if that
counts. other really good songs that aren't acoustic but just clean electrics
but sound really cool are midnight(surfing w/ the alien), day at the beach(
flying), forgotten pt.1(flying) all 3 use his two handed tapping technique, not
a la van halen, but when both the left and right hand tap the strings.

How do you know he is not a Christian? I mean he may not share his religious beliefs but I want proof from you to see if your statement is true.

If you watch this video, you see at about 7:12 that Joe points straight up at the sky and and looks where his finger is pointed. And he hold this position for a long time. In our recent times that is typically a pose used by Christians such as professional athletes.
