What I am suggesting is that we create our own Monk Code based on the well
known Geek Code. Sure, it's a cheap rip-off - so are the dating lives of our
members :-)
It would, of course, be based mainly around music.
DA+++ Terry Taylor is the prophet of our generation
DA++ Terry Taylor has forgotten more about life than I'll ever learn
DA+ DA is a good band
DA I listen to DA at times
DA- They're a bunch of country music singers trying to play rock music
DA-- How can you like a band that changes their style with every album?
CG+++ Chagall Guevara changed my life
CG++ CG is the best thing to ever happen to CCM
CG+ I like CG a lot
CG I've heard their album
CG- I didn't like their album
CG-- I sold my copy
AA+++ Gene Eugene is the most gifted artist I've ever heard
AA++ I have a copy of Ten Songs on CD
AA+ I like most of AA's stuff
AA They have many good songs
AA- I only like one or two of their songs
AA-- What's up with his whiny voice? And why is he so bitter?
F&J+++ Fleming and John should do a cover of every song ever recorded
F&J++ Finally a good sounding band that's not stuck having to make CCM
F&J+ The album rocks
F&J I've heard 'em. Nothing special.
F&J- What's up with Fleming's voice? And that hair!
F&J-- You'd think a professional artist could hold the same note for 2 seconds
!F&J I have been unable to locate a copy of their album
F&J* I am Ed Rock
We'd still need to add the standard:
I vary widely in this category
I get paid for listening to XXX
I'd LIKE to get paid for listening to XXX (Well, ok, I think we can assume
that for most members)
Who are XXX? (If you ever choose this option, we excommunicate you :)
I can't stand XXX.
I was thinking, based on the recent discussion about likes & dislikes of
certain characteristics of members of the female gender, we should have a
section on "I am hopelessly (meaning, it'll never happen) attracted to
females who"
H+++ have hair so long Crystal Gale is jealous
H++ have quite long hair
H+ have average length hair
H have hair
H- have short hair
H-- have very short hair
H--- shave their head every 2 days
G+++ wear glasses thicker than the average physics text
G++ wear glasses of considerable thickness
G+ wear glasses but also wear contacts
G can see
G- don't need glasses
G-- have better than 20/20 eyesight
G* are willing to look at me with or without glasses
What says the brotherhood?

or lorien.micros.com -and/or- you subscribe to alt.fan.wednesday.
You downgrade one level if you are Andrew Bulhak, Mortal Enemy
Of Wednesday, Current Incarnation Of Nyarlthotep.
Indicate with parentheses. U* does not need to upgrade.
U++++ I am on-topic for alt.fan.wednesday. What more do
you want?
U+++ I grep my news spool just to read her articles.
U++ I autoselect for her on some of the groups I read.
U+ Well, I'm subscribed to alt.abuse.transcendence.
U I see her name just about everywhere I read.
U- Wednesday. That's Tina Sikorski, right?
U-- Argh. I killfile her.
U--- She's not Christina Ricci and I wish she'd get
the hell off of alt.fan.[addams.]wednesday!
U---- I KNOW SHE'S REALLY THE BOB(c)!!! I KNOW IT!
U* We post jointly.
!U Christina Ricci has an AOL account?
U^ Hell, I read alt.fan.wednesday, AND I DON'T EVEN
HAVE ACCESS TO THE USENET!! BWAA HAA HAAAA!

s p # (your licence #) -- if you have a licence
! s p -- if you don't.
* W (World Wide Web)
W++++ SHE LINKED ME TO HER WEB PAGE. *scamper of joy*
W+++ I check her pages regularly, have reread the essays
and poetry several times, and made a point of linking
her to my pages at least once.
W++ I've checked in when she's made announced updates.
W+ I've gone in once or twice, and it's pretty cool.
W I could only see it on Lynx, so I didn't get the full
impact.
W- Been there. Seen it. S'ok.
W-- It's a little self-serving, and I do wish she'd get
rid of that damned huge bio. It's really unnecessary.
W--- She has no HTML skill whatsoever. What are you talking
about?!
W---- I asked her to take me OFF her hotlist. Ecch.
W* We maintain joint pages of some form or another.
!W Geez, I don't even have a BROWSER.
* M (Meeting Wednesday)
M++++ I see Wednesday on a fairly regular basis and am
familiar enough with her diet that I can predict her
orders at restaurants.
M+++ I hang out with Wednesday when she makes her semi-
regular roadtrips around different places in the US,
she may have crashed at my place, and I wish I saw her
more often.
M++ I've done coffee with Wednesday, probably while passing
through Chicago.
M+ I've met Wednesday at a Net-related gathering (e.g.
a.s.a.r.picnic, Peevefest, a.r.k. picnic, tezcat.gather,
Nutmeg festival, a.s.b. party).
M I have never met Wednesday.
M- I just missed meeting Wednesday.
M-- I'm really not interested in meeting Wednesday.
M--- You couldn't pay me to meet Wednesday.
M---- Oh, -puh-leeeeeeeze-.
M* Oh, come on, I -live with- Wednesday.
!M Who?
* C (Computers)
C++++ Wednesday has an account on my system.
C+++ Wednesday frequently checks mail and news from my system.
C++ Wednesday has telnettted to her account through mine at
least once, or dialed into her system through mine at
least once.
C+ Wednesday has used my computer.
C Wednesday knows I have a computer.
C- Well, I gave her advice on how to use her system once...
C-- Wednesday doesn't know I have a computer.
C--- You kidding? I have a .edu account that I use from the
LABS AT MY SCHOOL. How on earth do you think she could
use my computer?
C* I loaned Wednesday the system that she is currently using.
!C I am Karl Denninger, and I wouldn't want Wednesday back
on my system if she paid me -business rates-.
* D (Dating Wednesday)
THIS SECTION IS OPTIONAL. Wednesday notes that she prefers to have
discreet relationships.
NOTE: net.involvements DO IN FACT COUNT.
If any of these qualify in a past tense with no "idiot ex-" status,
use parentheses.
D++++ I am or have been pleasantly involved in a relationship
with Wednesday and have no regrets about this.
D+++ We have or have had a close friendship with sexual
or BDSM-related overtones.
D++ We've gone out and/or scened once or twice.
D+ It's never really come up.
D WE'RE JUST FRIENDS. STOP ASKING.
D- I have no interest in being involved romantically or
sexually with Wednesday, but I still like her.
D-- She's a bit of a turn-off.
D--- Oh, yuck.
D* It's really none of your business what kind of relationship
I have, have had, or would like to have with Wednesday.
!D I qualify under the "idiot ex-boyfriends" clause on
alt.fan.wednesday.
* CD (Music)
CD++++ We have amazingly similar taste in music, and could
quite easily share the same CD collection with very
little clash.
CD+++ She made me a tape/I made her a tape that she/I really
enjoyed.
CD++ We can usually agree on something in common to listen to,
but I don't like most of what she listens to.
CD+ I got her to listen to __________, at least.
CD I'm sure we could agree on something if we talked about it.
CD- Most of the stuff she listens to is really annoying.
CD-- Who the HELL listens to ________ anymore?!
CD* We are Of The Brain. Therefore, We Agree.
!CD Music never comes up between us.
* N (The Legal Name)
N++++ If I called Wednesday by her legal name, I would
live to tell the tale.
N+++ If I called Wednesday by her legal name, she would
look at me strangely, and probably bitch me out.
N++ I keep trying to call her Wednesday. I forget sometimes.
N+ I call her by her legal name sometimes to annoy her.
N I know her legal name, but I don't use it.
N- I always wondered what her legal name was.
N-- It's Leigha Holzman-Simons, right?
N--- Uhhh.... something Sikorski...
N---- You mean it's not Wednesday?!
N* I've known Wednesday since before she was called Wednesday,
so she lets me call her by her legal name.
!N "Wednesday." It's not her real name. Geez. You'd THINK
some people would KNOW how names work.
* F (Food)
F++++ I know her diet inside out and upside down; she will
eat my cooking, and we can usually agree on a restaurant.
F+++ I know she eats a lot of meat. That's all she seems to
order at restaurants anyway.
F++ I think she's a carnivore.
F+ I think she eats?
F Does she eat?
F- Oh, come on. She's online all day. She doesn't eat.
F* Heck, I've even bought her lunch/dinner/breakfast.
!F It's never been discussed.
I (IRC)
I++++ I can name all of the channels that Wednesday usually
hangs out on, and can usually find her without doing
a /whois.
I+++ I usually see her on the same channel, and she talks
to me regularly.
I++ If I /msg her, she'll actually respond.
I+ I know she has a process running, but I can't always
get her attention.
I I might have seen her there once.
I- I didn't know she did IRC.
I-- Oh, sheesh, she does IRC?!
I--- I kickban her!!
I---- I kickban ALL bots!!
I* Heck, she idles on my system.
!I I've never even been on IRC. What are you talking about?
E (Email)
E++++ Wednesday answers my email as soon as she gets it,
for the most part.
E+++ Wednesday answers my mail within a day or two, but I
understand she has a backlog and expect a slow return.
E++ Wednesday tries to answer my mail, but I don't think
she gets all of it sometimes...
E+ Well, I've heard back from Wednesday, but it takes a
good long while.
E I've gotten email from Wednesday once or twice.
E- I've sent her mail, but she hasn't replied.
E-- I have had to use bloodhounds to find replies from
Wednesday.
E--- Why doesn't she just get an autoresponder like Kibo?
E---- I have better luck getting a REAL NOTE from Kibo!!
E* Sheesh, she saves everything I write her. Blackmail.
!E Wednesday and I have never corresponded.
Ps (Pseudonyms/Chosen Names)
Ps++++ I am familiar with Wednesday's chosen names from
the Cassandra Carlisle days up through and including
the latest edition of Schrodinger's Cat.
Ps+++ I am familiar with most of the names Wednesday has
used on the Internet since 1992.
Ps++ I am familiar with the various collective names Wednesday
has used (Gryphon Circle etc.) and most of the names she
receives postal mail under.
Ps+ I am familiar with some of the last names Wednesday has
used since 1993.
Ps I am aware that Wednesday uses more than one name online.
Ps- Wait, I thought we covered this in Legal Name...
Ps-- I know Wednesday's not her real name, but huh?!
Ps---- She has names OTHER THAN wedn...@tezcat.com?!!
Ps* I've figured out that you can call her by just about any
female name and she'll eventually answer to it.
!Ps I don't accept any name but Wednesday as truly being hers.
Cr (Crises)
Cr++++ I have seen Wednesday through at least one life- or
health- threatening crisis in person.
Cr+++ I have seen Wednesday through at least one life- or
health-related crisis via Internet or telephone.
Cr++ I have offered my support to Wednesday in a crisis,
but she has never needed to take me up on it.
Cr+ I am sympathetic to the notion that Wednesday has
had some emotional problems.
Cr I guess she's had a pretty rough life.
Cr- Yeah,. but my mommy used to hit me harder.
Cr-- My parents used to hit me when I was a kid, and I'm
looking forward to beating up my kids, aren't you?
Cr--- I don't see why she has to whine all the time. Sometimes
I wish she would STOP whining!
Cr---- She can just curl up in a ball and die for all I care.
Cr* I have had the exact same crisis as Wednesday at
overlapping times.
!Cr I thought she was happy....?
Dk (Dicksizing)
Dk++++ But MY crises were more important than that OD at the
theme park!!
Dk* What are you whining about?
!Dk Ha. I win.
R (Religion)
R++++ Wednesday is a Christian in orientation who maintains
a ritual form and outlook based on a history of Pagan,
Chaotic, and otherwise eclectic study.
R+++ Wednesday is one of those Christopagan types.
R++ Wednesday's a Pagan, but she read the Bible.
R+ I don't think Wednesday has a real religion per se.
R I am not aware of Wednesday's religious orientation.
R- She's too wimpy to be a real Christian.
R-- She's too wimpy to be a real Witch.
R--- SHE HAS BETRAYED THE ONE TRUE FAITH OF THE GODDESS!!!
R---- SHE IS A REINCARNATION OF ONE OF THE WITCHBURNERS!!!
R* Heck, I've prayed with/participated in ritual with/
gone to church with Wednesday; it doesn't have a name
that doesn't have the baggage of something altogether
wrong.
!R Isn't she Buddhist?
W (Whips)
A combination W+- score is possible.
W+ I have been whipped by Wednesday.
W- I have whipped Wednesday.
W* I can pick up Wednesday's whips and whip myself just
out of the blue.
!W Pain? Yeesh.
ST (Steve Taylor)
ST++++ Steve Taylor is, was and will be. Same for Chagall
Guevara.
ST+++ Chagall Guevara is really cool.
ST++ I like Steve, but he doesn't really grab me.
ST+ "I Want To Be A Clone" was OK.
ST I know who he is.
ST- Steve Taylor is anti-Christian.
ST-- Steve Taylor is a secularized sellout.
ST--- Steve Taylor is a secularized sellout anti-Christian
with bad hair and a big nose.
ST---- Terry Taylor?!
ST* I'm gonna talk to you about humility, cause I've GOT IT!
!ST Doesn't Wednesday prefer Queensryche?
Q (Queensryche)
Q++++ Can't spit the memory from my mind, I can't cry anymore...
Q+++ Even in death, she still looks sad.
Q++ She doesn't believe in love.
Q+ It suddenly hit her like a two-ton heavy thing.
Q She's smiling next to me in silent lucidity.
Q- Domo Arigato Mr. Robato
Q-- Poseurs. Nehi grape soda.
Q--- What an atrocious .plan file.
Q---- Her name was Lola, she was a dancer...
Q* I've always known that the mirror never lies.
!Q SomeDAAAAAAAAY my PRINCE will COME...
Ka (Discordianism)
Ka++++ Never mind the bollocks, here's the kallisti.
Ka+++ Nightshift is dangerously attractive.
Ka++ Get out of that mind meld!
Ka+ Hail Eris.
Ka I've heard of the Principia Discordia.
Ka- I crossposted to alt.discordia once.
Ka-- Damned anarchists.
Ka--- INWO is a cool card game.
Ka---- Damned Satanists.
Ka* I'm...oh, never mind.
!Ka Never mind the kallisti; I'm Bollocks.

Not a bad idea. If there is actually an interest, I might consider setting
up a web page to automatically generate an RMC code (sort of like the one
that does the geek page).
Of course, we'd be listing probably around 200-300 artists and constantly
adding new ones. It would be hard to keep a "current" copy of the code..
the first thing i notice is that chuck missed out on getting perfect

hum. if it's specific to the newsgroup, not necessarily. i would
envision two sections re: music: one, for specific styles of music [use the
traditional radio formats - inspirational, adult contemporary, CHR/top40,
rock, alternative, metal - with things like rap and house/dance and such
thrown in for good measure]; two, for artists that are frequently topics
of discussion on r.m.c [amy, mws, the choir, f&j, VoL, etc.]
you also have a section for the raging debates of r.m.c. for example:
S++ secular music can be inspired by God just as christian music can.
S+ i enjoy quite a few secular bands, m'self.
S music is music. if i like it, i listen to it.
S- all my albums are Christian. i don't seek out secular music at all.
S-- secular music is of the devil and you should avoid it at all costs.
S--- i burn secular records.
!S this whole secular/christian dichotomy is so bogus.

Really? No Rap-Sures, Swirling Eddies, Lost Dogs, At the Foot of the Cross,
etc??
BUT, I'm almost certain you've heard an album produced by T.T. or G.E.
Oh, so we have all the time in the world? We don't do laundry, cook for

paying, checkbook balancing, etc.? Couples can share responsibilities.
Singles must do for themselves.
Sorry, but you almost sounded like my church for a little bit there. This

Well all it would take would be for him to tune in to his campus radio
station. A program on it called "Over My Head" (yeah from the King's X
tune), gives them more than their fair share of air time. Plus, I've been
known to play a tune or two from those bands on my show.

Well, even Paul seems to follow this idea - a single man can devote himself to
God. Now, what that means in today's world in practical terms, only God
knows for sure.

This may be just another point where I'm beginning to see the wisdom of
the Toad the Wet Sprocket view of Paul...
Please do elaborate.
