there's an article on the web somewhere (v.o.g.?), that somewhat
discusses what happened to him. he turned his back on God, basically,
and no longer wants anything to do with Christianity. he felt that his
record company stiffed him, and that way too many Christians let him
down.
peace,

Hmmm...late in '95, I read an article - in Visions of Gray, I believe -
that Roger had recanted his faith and has gotten into a bit of trouble
with a few people...actually, someone on rmc had posted the URL for the
article...but I do remember reading it--it was a pretty sad
story. Doug Van Pelt of HM had also sent out an e-mail asking people to
keep Roger in prayer. Other than that, I haven't heard or read anything
since.
You may want to contact HM to see if they can provide more information
for you:

I read a letter he sent to my friend (we're concert promoters who did VR on a few
occasions, so we were Roger's "friends") that went on and one about who ripped him off,
how much money, and all sorts of details that ended up sounding a little schitzo. He
sent this to a lot of people.
It's unfortunate that Roger (a really smart guy) couldn't see the difference between
Christians and Christ...even if they really did rip him off. I heard several things,
one that he went to London for a bit.
Then later we were contacted by the police who were looking for Roger, because the
rumors said he was heading down our way. We don't know what was up, though.

Roger sent out several letters to the VR mailing list. He complained that
the rest of VR had welched on some debts and were going to just ditch VR,
but he wanted to continue it so he assumed the debt. Which he couldn't
pay, I guess. And he had some problems where he was living, and some
problems with his wife, and he basically flipped out I guess, by the
sound of the letters. (I have copies from a friend who was on the VR
mailing list.)

I'm not sure exactly what went on with Roger and the other guys in VR that
later became Die Happy, but his statements sounded halfway legitimate, and
he wanted people to boycott Die Happy and not buy VR albums, because they
shouldn't be role models and he wasn't a leader and etc, etc.

somewhere, back in time, someone actually posted some info about Roger and
what had been going on. You might be able to find this post on Deja
News. In fact, let me go look for it...
alright, I found it. There was an article in Visions of Gray by James
Tuck. clive posted it to r.m.c. for those who didn't have access to it.
If you want to go and read it for yourself, go to DejaNews (the web
address is http://www.dejanews.com) or some other news archiver and
look for an article in rec.music.christian dated 2/28/96 that was titled
"Re: Vengeance" and was posted by tcp...@harrier.am.qub.ac.uk (clive).
(If there's some sort of numeric or alphanumeric tag for the individual
post, I didn't look for it.)
You could also do a search on "Martinez" and "Vengeance" and come up with
several threads over the past year or so.
Hope that helps.
