Does anyone here remember Sweet Comfort Band? I was wondering if any of
their material has been put on CD?

I remember them very well, I began listening to their music in 1982. Their
music is great, was very instrumental in my walk with the Lord and I still love
it to this day. As far as I know, all of their albums were reissued on CD. I
have all of them including their very first one released on Maranatha. I like
them all but my favorites are "Hearts of Fire" and "Cutting Edge". I saw
Brian Duncan last year in concert and he sang some songs from the Sweet Comfort
days, "Love You With My Life" and "You Need A Reason".

Yep, I think they were the first Christian band I ever heard (a bit
after the fact, though). All their stuff has been reissued on CD
(back in the early 90s), but good luck finding most of it now.

Ahhh....more early 80's trivia. Remember the lead singer of SCB? That
would be Bryan "Holy Rollin'" Duncan himself. I remember the days of
listening to "Perfect Timing" on cassette and playing air guitar.

When we used to listen to that stuff in my youth group back around
1986 or so, we had the entire air _band_ going. Dorks. :-)

Sounds like we're from roughly the same era. I never saw SCB live, but did
see Bryan Duncan live a few years later when he opened for Russ Taff at Six
Flags. It was basically Bryan with a keyboard and a track playing behind
him. Wierd show.

As a sidenote, that was during my youth group days, too, but most of the
others in my group listened to stuff like Wasp and Kiss. That was back
during the days when I was convinced that that kind of thing was
EEEEEVIIIIL! Now I am older and wiser and realize that the music we should
fear comes from Carman.

Early 80s for you, perhaps, but I remember catching a Sweet Comfort Band show,
circa 1978, in the basement of some church (what they used to call a
"fellowship hall", complete with crappy tile floor and everything). Bryan
Duncan was indeed the lead singer, but it was the bassist that did a fine job
of presenting the gospel, IIRC.

Actually, he _may_ have good luck finding them. Just today, I got a
RadRockers catalog that lists as available _Breakin' the Ice_, _Hearts Of
Fire_, _Perfect Timing_, _Prime Time_, and _The Light Years_. The latter
two are "best of" collections. _The Light Years_ is for sure available from
BMG, and any of their Light Records stuff (the above plus _Hold On Tight!_
and _Cutting Edge_) may still be available from Light. Their debut, _Sweet
Comfort_, was released briefly by Maranatha! Music (I missed it, darnit!),
but is now most definately OOP and commands big bucks. RadRockers is in
Michigan and can be reached at www.radrockers.com or (734) 480-7898. Happy
hunting!

Chris.

Oh, I just found that RadRockers has _Hold On Tight!_, too (and for only
$5.50!).
