Hey;

Neal Gray writes:

anyone know it exists?

In response to all three questions, the answer is yes!

Joshua released an album called "Surrender" in 1986. It was first
released on Polydor (I think) then last year they were re-released on
that christian label that also has Crystavox. I can't think of names
right now.

I have the original on some archaic form of sonic reproduction that
uses a large round balck vinyl disc with some groove cut in it. I
think the principial of sound transfer relies on an actual physical
vibration, but neither me nor any of my other archaeologist friends
seem to have such an antique that can retrieve the sound :)

Anyway- althought the music is the same, the credit list changed alot
on the two releases, God only knows why. (actually, I suspect the
memebers of the band have some idea as well.) It was a mediocre
quality pop-metal album a little bit rougher than Shout and a lot more
repetitious. For collectors and die-hard Tamplin fans (like me) it is
a must have- otherwise don't bother. The members of the band according
to the the original credit list are as follows:

Joshua Perahia- Lead Guitar

Jeff (?) Fenholt- Lead Vox

Kenneth Tamplin- Rhythm Guitar

Loren Robinson- Bass

Joseph Galleta- Drums

Some other guy- Keyboards

Tamplin does lead vox on one song only. He co-wrote 2 or 3 of the songs.
Note that 3/4 of what eventually became known as "SHOUT" were part of
this band. (The fourth part - Chuck King- was a member of Idle Cure at
the time.)

That's about everything there is to know about Joshua.

Hey this is a followup to my last post on Joshua for all who give a darn.

Everything I wrote was correct except for a few tiny details:

1) the copy of "Surrender" I have on vinyl is on a german company
called Bellaphon.

2) the company that now has Joshua and Crystavox is Ocean

3) the keyboardist changed his name from "some other guy" to PATRICK
BRADLEY.

4) the question mark behind "Jeff" should be ommitted. I have verified
mr. Fenholt's first name with the credit list.

5) i get a strong sense of deja-vu that I posted all this before like
back in May when I gave my dissertation on the history of Magdallan

Sorry I quoted so much, but I wanted to.
You guys may be surprised to hear this-- Joshua's last album was actually
called "Intense Defence", released in 1988 on some independent German label in
Europe. It was produced by Dieter Derks(sp?) ,the same guy who produced some o
f the Scorpions' material. The album is very glam, with great vocals and
incredibly hot guitar licks that you just don't get tired of hearing.
I have the CD at home and I honestly believe it's one of the best sounding
albums I have.
What kind of criteria am I using? I'm comparing it to Tamplin's other
stuff (Shout and his solo projects), and even J/D Elefante's material-
the guys who put Petra, Guardian, and Halo where they are (although Petra
isn't on the Elefante's label).
But I digress. Tamplin co-wrote 3 of the songs on the album, and it shows.
I had the CD imported from Germany from some distributer dude in Oregon.
I know there's no way I would be able to get ahold of any more copies this
way(providing they exist), but if I ever do I'll be sure to let you guys
know the deal. Hope I cleared up a few things.
