Did he get out of prison? If so, I'm sure he got blackballed from CCM,
even though he did the right thing.

I, too, would like to know the answer to this question.
I spoke to Billy Smilley following a show here a couple years ago, but
was afraid to ask this question because of its sensitive nature.

Okay kids, do as I do. Rather than getting into some pointless flamewar,
which is exactly what this guy wants, simply send mail to postm...@aol.com
to complain. Let AOL's terms of service work for you...

This is not necessarily Motorola's official opinion; I speak for myself.
That is, certainly, one possible approach. Another equally useful
approach is to take no notice of such articles at all, and avoid the
follow-ups by putting the entire thread into your KILL file. Most
newsreader programs, as far as I know, allow you to create a KILL file,
which the program uses to weed out articles on subjects and/or by people
that you do not, for whatever reason, wish to see.
RN, the newsreader program which I use, allows the user to edit the KILL
file so as to weed out articles which contain specified words or phrases
as part of the article headings or in the entire article. I have been
able to avoid wasting my time reading the rantings of folks who are cross-
posting to rec.music.christian from alt.music.rock-n-roll.metal.death by
sticking the following command in my KILL file:
/alt.music.rock-n-roll.metal.death/h:j
Ask around--your newsreader program probably allows you to do something
similar. Since I stuck that command in my KILL file, somewhere between
30 and 35% of the articles arriving at my newssite have been weeded out.
It is a very convenient way to avoid the self-importance of Bill Jurgen,
Sven, Gothmog and all those other folks.
Peace,
chris
