The song "Five Candles" by Jars Of Clay will be featured in the new Warner
Brothers motion picture "Jack Frost." In theaters December 18, the film
tells the story of an aspiring musician who gets a second chance to mend his
relationship with his son when he comes back to life as a snowman. The
soundtrack will be available November 24 and will also include cuts from The
Spice Girls, Bob Carlisle, Hanson, Lisa Loeb, and Fighting Gravity among
others.
Billboard magazine recently conducted an online survey, asking people where
they thought the music industry was going in the near future. Out of the
almost 3,000 participants, 25.2% foresaw new wave and synth pop would
return. 14.4% believed east coast hiphop would increase in popularity and
12.1% said Christian rock and rap was where the trend would be!
The O.C. Supertones have been invited to appear before the Pope on January
26 in St. Louis, Missouri. The event is being organized by Contemporary
Productions and will have significant coverage on all major networks. The
band has also extended their contract with BEC Recordings for three
additional projects.
Newsboys members Phil Joel and Jeff Frankenstein anchored "Channel One", the
national school information channel. They had the privilege of educating
about eight million teenagers on the recent Palestinian and Israeli peace
talks. Their current single "Woo Hoo' also aired on an episode of "Dawson's
Creek" last month.
Michael Tait of dc Talk received a special invitation to meet teen rockers

pre-teen girls as they took the stage.
Sixpence None The Richer is in the news again. This time not for their
crossover success, but yet their specialty interests. Included in these are
an unusual twist of ten tracks called "On Steel Horses We Ride" covering
country tunes (?!).

Heh. Yeah, it's Kevin that usually gets the 12,000 screaming pre-teens.

Anybody know if this info has hit Sixpence's seldom-updated web site
yet? I'm curious to hear this stuff. :-)

Solo stuff from Derri? That's cool, I guess, but I wasn't that taken
by Steve Hindalong's solo effort. All things considered, I think
I'd rather have a new Choir disc. :-)

So that IS the same guy that plays Malik on _ER_, then? Cool.

Wow, I thought only the biggies like Amy actually had the luxury of
writing and recording more than the songs that make the disc. Maybe
we'll have some good Smalltown Poets b-sides popping up somewhere...

And, IIRC, about 40 percent said they expected something completely new.
I wonder how Billboard phrased the question in the first place . . .
