The reason Greg left Petra in the first place was so that he could
spend more time with his family.
Greg still tours, but not many dates. I saw him about 6 months ago
so I know he is still alive and kicking.

I KNOW! I KNOW!

He's still doing solo concerts - I've seen and spoke to him a
number of times.

currently he's working on a new project - heavy rock type stuff,
with plans to market to the mainstream.

Believe me, the man can STILL pack a wallop! He's one fantastic
performer. His concerts consist of Petra tunes, and solo tunes.
It's worth the price of a ticket.

I'm probably going to have him here in Wisconsin next year - are
you around here?

Greg lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife and children. He doesn't
tour much. His wife works at Dinsey World and he basically stays home
and spends time with the kids. I know he's working on a new album....

I heard him do "Dream On" by Aerosmith one time and my jaw just hit
the floor. It was fantastic!! His voice fits into that genre really
well.

If you thought his cover of "Dream On" was something, JUST WAIT
till you hear the new stuff. It'll blow your socks off!

You'll be greatly surprised! I've heard it on demo - WOW!

That could be said about any musical genre he has ever attempted!

He's working on signing to a label right now. Negotiations are
in progress! This project is going to be distibuted nationwide,
not just through his own at concerts.

Last Greg said, they needed to go back into the studio and rework
a few things. When I find out more, I'll let you know.

I think Petra lost alot when he left. How many solo albums has he had? I
think I've got the 1st three.

Yes. He was with them beginning with _Come and Join Us_, and he left after
_Captured In Time And Space_ (which was a live album from the _Beat the System_
tour).

He has 4 solo albums:

The River is Rising
Come Out Fighting (out of pressing)
No Room in the Middle
The Exodus

All excellent music! The other 3 are still available from Greg
himself.

I hear that GXV has a solo album called _Xavier_. His name doesn't appear on
it, though. I looks as if it were a self-titled album by a group called
Xavier. I hear that the rumor that this is a GXV album originated because:
1) it sounds like GXV, and 2) the "X" in "GXV" is for "Xavier." Can anyone
confirm this?

I'm just about to put the wraps on my wife's album that Greg produced
and sang on. During this time I asked him about all his albums. The only
solo album missing from the above list by Sue is a greatest hits album

In The Middle_ are out of print. He doesn't even have any laying around.
:^( So, to answer your question, the album, _Xavier_, you're speaking of
is not by him unless he somehow found time to do a quick one between
Carla's album and that one. ;^)
BTW, sorry if some of you are reading some of my same comments. I
have yet to see a post of mine make it to the net, so I email and post

I think this is a rumor - I have a complete discography given to
me by Greg himself, and nothing like this is on it.

He does have a collection which is self titled, but nothing by
the name of Xavier.

Did you find this album just recently? Or long ago?

If you wouldn't mind posting this discography, I'd like to see it.

>He does have a collection which is self titled, but nothing by

Does this collection have anything new on it? Someone E-mailed me telling me
about a compilation called _The Collection_. Is this different?
I once heard a Christmas carol by GXV on the radio. I think that it was "Hark
the Herald Angels Sing," but I'm not sure anymore.

>Did you find this album just recently? Or long ago?

I bought it new and still-sealed on LP a while ago for a reasonable price. I
haven't listened to it yet because I need a new needle for my turntable. The
fellow from whom I bought the album told me that it doesn't have GXV's full
name on it anywhere, that the "X" in "GXV" stands for "Xavier," and that the
lead singer on the album must be GXV because it sure sounds like him. The
fellow from whom I bought the album has proven realiable in the past. I don't
believe that he would try to deceive me, but his reasons for stating that
_Xavier_ is a GXV album might be just circumstantial evidence. At any rate, I
got it at a reasonable price. If it turns out not to be GXV, I won't mind.
In response to my post, I've already received an E-mail message from someone
saying that he has _Xavier_, and he confirmed it as a GXV album.
_Xavier_ is copyright 1981. This would put it @ about the time of _Never Say
Die_. The picture on the cover is a string instrument.

A few years back Greg and family were living in Orlando where he was
attending Metrolife Assembly (I may be wrong on that detail). His
daughter was an actress in a Nickelodeon Network kids show, and he did
a little bit of recording and playing around with his old producer
friend George Atwell (George? Hmmm That doesn't sound right either)

Anyway, his old buddies from BeeJay Recording Studios, where he did
the Xavier album, are operators of a music industry school called FULL
SAIL. He did a little hanging out with them as well.(Recording too??
Hmmm)

I don't know where he is now, or what he's up to, except for some
occasional local appearances in concert.

If you find or hear of any of his basement stuff, let me know.

Retraction - I was wrong!
Yes, the Xavier album DOES have Greg on it! I talke to him today
- he said it was a project he helped with - it wasn't REALLY his,
but the person/producer/ whoever made it up as a demo/promotion
piece, and titled it Xavier.

so yes, indeed - it is his! My appoligies.

His list of other albums include:

The River is Rising
Come out Fighting

No Room in the Middle
The Exodus

The Greg X. Volz Collection

Any more questions - just e-mail me!
