Newsboys is one of my favorite bands so I was shocked when I found out today
that Kevin Mills, who played the bass for the band, died after a motorcycle
accident in Hollywood. My prayer goes out to his family. I am sure he is up
in Heaven entertaining angels.

Rock musician Kevin Mills killed in motorcycle accident

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kevin Mills, a member of the Christian rock
groups Newsboys and White Heart, died Dec. 3 after a motorcycle
accident in Hollywood. He was 32.

Mills, of Louisville, Ky., was a singer and bass player, his family said.
He also was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and appeared on TV
in "An Inconvenient Woman'' in 1991.

White Heart started in 1982. Newsboys, an Australian band now based
near Nashville, was formed four years later. Newsboys have sold nearly
3 million records and earned three Grammy nominations on the religious
rock circuit.

Oops! I didn't know that Kevin Mills was an ex-Newsboy and did not play the
bass in Entertaining Angels. Still, it's so sad when people die so young like
he did.

What did he play on? What did he look like?

Yeah, the accident's really sad, and I feel a little bad for not
remembering who he is right now. I can't place him, with either
Whiteheart or the Newsboys.

He played with the Newsboys on the _Going Public_ album and also
toured with them for that tour. His involvement with Whiteheart was
pretty minimal, he played bass on the very short tour following their
last album, _Redemption._

IIRC, Mills was more involved in managing and promoting bands. I
also seem to remember that he wanted to get into movies. I mourn
the loss for his family.

I remember the day he brought Jars of Clay into our business office to
discuss representation. He had left the Newsboys by that time (whom we also
represented). Kevin was a great guy. Sad, sad news.

Press On,

Mike

I remember his name, but he may have just toured with the groups
because I know he wasn't with white heart on the first stuff, as
he'd have been 18ish when Hotline came out, and Lunn, And Tommy
Simms, and Antonne what's his name covered it through "Highlands"
where my collection leaves off...but my memory was saying
Newsboys. I'd love to know too if anyone has the details. -Bob

His last CD with the Newsboys was "Going Public". Look at the CD sleeve and
you'll see his picture and thank you's between John James & Duncan Phillips.

Kevin was my favorite Newsboy. The 'boys were in my area several
times during the Not Ashamed tour and Kevin was always the one loading
up the truck at the end of the show, so I had the priviledge of
working with him 4 times. He was fun to talk to and in my opinion the
most down to earth out of all the guys. I was wondering whatever
became of Kevin after he left the 'boys, unfortunately I didn't want
to find out this way.
