Brent,
Up until this summer there was a strong and regular session at a little pub on
Bloor street west in TO called St James Gate. However, the owner or manager(?)
in a fit of pique, told the players "they were late" so he didn't save them a
booth to play at. Or so the story goes. Very strange.
A good friend of mine is a regular (some might say obsessed) session flute
player. He usually keeps me up on who's playing where around TO. There are
quite a few players that get together off and on but there doesn't seem to be
a *regular* session at the moment.
Tuesday nights are a good time down at Allen's, on the Danforth just east of
Broadview. Next door to the Music Hall. But I don't know that there is Celtic
music *every* Tuesday. You could call.
If you do go down there, you will meet up with a lot of session players and
step dancers. That's where I meet them.

There is often celtic Music sessions at THE WINKING JUDGE (Augusta Street) or THE LIONSHEAD pub, (John Street) here in Hamilton... Usually Every other sunday night.. Usually hosted by a local band calle the SWINEISH MULTITUDE. Also up in Cambridge, (I think it's second Sunday of every month at 3:00) at the GOLDEN KIWI pub... This one is run by Brad MacEwan who is the artistic director of the Millrace festival. A good source for Toronto info is a newsletter called "THE WIDE ATLANTIC... (The one copy
I got from the Irish store on Yonge Steet last year)... It gives 215 Reiner Road, North York, Ont. M3H 2M2 (416) 630-2919 as its publishing address...

I have a few leads for your next visit to T.O.:
Every other Wednesday evening at the Tranzac Club in downtown T.O.
(Bloor St.W at Brunswick) there is a session starting at around 9 pm.
As well, the Cafe Verite on Bloor St. near Christie has a Slow-playing
Session (mostly for fiddlers) on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 10.
At the Bow and Arrow Pub on near Yonge Street and St Clair,
Sandy MacIntyre hosts a session most Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4,
though I'm not sure how open it is for visiting musicians.
If you're looking for Irish music on a Friday or Saturday night,
try Whelan's Gate pub or Elizabeth Dooley's - both are located at
Bloor St. near Keele. Also, most weekends there are Celtic artists
performing at The Flying Cloud Folk Club in the Tranzac Club
building.
Hope this helps..
