Hi all
I've known Ray Sloan for quite a long time, and have sold several of
his practice sets during my part-time job at The Music Room
(www.the-music-room.com)
He's primarily a Northumbrian pipe maker who also does flutes and more
recently uillean pipes. His uillean reeds borrow a little from
Northumbrian techniques. His pipes work and are of sound construction.
Above all, they are available (at leat, the practice sets are). This
means that he is one of the few makers whose pipes can be bought "off
the peg". Time will tell whether demand makes him an "orders only"
maker. In the meantime, if it's a practice set you're after, grab some
while you can.
Cheers
Alistair Russell
