(BTW - the Drovers do have 2 CDs out on the Tantrum label, most often
carried in Blockbuster Music, Turtles, Best Buy, Hastings, or Towers in
Chicago or Cambridge or NYC. "the drovers" WORLD OF MONSTERS and their
new EP, KILL MICE ELF. WOM is Tantrum TA1183; KME is Tantrum TA1199. And
they've just started on a tour to a lot of colleges in the west.
(I have their schedule if you're interested).
Um, possibly I'd suggest another Chicago band, the Muck Brothers.
(They have a new CD that just came out 2 weeks ago - but I don't have the
title or label right now as I was out of town and missed the release party.)
The Reeks are a bit more traditional, and I'm not sure about their
"home base".
Hope this helps somewhat

The Drovers is an alternative rock band from Chicago. There is not as much
Celtic influence in the current band as there once was. The movie _Blink_
has a soundtrack album which you can get at any major record store; there are
selections by the Drovers on that album. The Drovers have 2 or 3 albums of
their own as well. They also have a mailing list(regular mail), but I can't
seem to find the address right now.

In my other reply, I was fooling around with the editor & forgot
a few things ...
You'll find the 'categories' depend on the record store. If the
group is US-based, there's a good chance they'll be in either 'Rock"
or "Folk", while if the group is from Canada or Europe - or other
international location - it may be in "World/[whichever country]"
In the more rocking range, try Boiled In Lead. Otherwise, other
ideas would be the more traditional Colcannon (out of Colorado) or
The Mollys (out of Arizona - they have a CD they sell mailorder).
Or the Scottish (I think) group Wolfstone, which is now touring the
States. (most of these other than BIL probably have more vocals among
the instrumentals).

>What kind of music were the Drovers playing?
I don't know if this helps, but I THINK there was a real band called the
Drovers playing in the movie "Backdraft". The scene was somebody's
retirement party or something. Could it be the same musicians (minus
Madeleine Stowe)? In any case you can rent "Backdraft" and if it's the
same stuff, run it through your stereo onto audiocassette and take THAT to
the record store.
If I had to take a wild guess what sort of music it was, I'd say stuff
similar to The Bothy Band and The Boys of the Lough.
