The American Irish Musicians Society will honor Sligo button accordion
player and band leader Joe Nellany and Kerry dancing teacher Jerry
Mulvihill with induction into the AIMS Hall of Fame at a concert & dance
Sunday, April 6th, 1977, at the Yonkers Raceway Good Time Room from 2:30
to 8:30 PM. Performing at the annual AIMS Night of Shamrocks event will
be Gerry Finlay & the Cara Band, the Dermot Henry Band, the Paddy Noonan
Band, the Mary and Mattie Connolly Band, Joe Nellany’s own Sligo Aces
band, dancers from the Jerry Mulvihill School, and other stars of Irish
music. The Emcee will be Cavan’s Own Tony Jackson. AIMS will also
honor the late Pat Purcell, one of the organization’s founding members
and the drummer for the great Hi-Spots Show Band. The admission donation
is $10. Children accompanied by an adult will be admitted free. Yonkers
Raceway is at the Yonkers Avenue exit, Major Deegan Expressway/I-87/ and
Central Park Avenue and Yonkers Avenue intersection, Yonkers NY.
