hey Linda - Ged, also of the House Band (great recordings on the Green Linnet
label) is a really great guitarist. He, along with other members of the House
Band, has taught the celtic band workshop at Augusta for a couple summers now,
including this July. Ged is a fabulous musician, well worth going to the
Catskills for.
I wish I could tell you more about his specific style, but, not being a
guitarist, I'd be BSing more than you'd probably like :)
Alana.
I took a class with him and the rest of the House Band at Augusta in
West Va. a couple years ago. Good stuff - he plays in an open G tuning
- somewhat unique - very knowledgable and plays a mean fiddle at the
sessions.

Hi,
No, it's not open G, it's a modified open C: CGCGCD, low to high. But as he
had to play in D most of the time, and the capoing wore out his 2nd fret, he
had Stephan Sobell make a special guitar with a neck that is 2 frets shorter,
and he tunes that one DADADE. This is his main instrument at the moment.
He strings it with a "bluegrass" set of strings, so medium gauge bass strings,
and light trebles.
Ged's a nice guy, good singer and terrific guitarist.
Han.
