I extend an invitation to you to join/visit the Oregon Pipers' Society.
Each month we present piping performances and competition featuring some
of the finest pipers in North America. On occasion we also host other
celtic musical performances.
We meet the third Saturday of every month, October through April, at the
VFW Hall, 837 SE Mill St., Portland, Oregon. Our competition (chanter
class through Grade I) begins at 5:00 pm and our regular programs
commences at 7:30 pm. Annual membership is only 15$. Meeting admission
is $4 (non-members), $3 (members/adult), and $1 (member/child 7-16).
Our meeting schedule for 1995-96 is Nov 18, Dec 16, Jan 20, Feb 17, Mar
16, and Apr 20.
Our featured performer for our November meeting is Donald MacPhee of
Houston, Texas. Donald is the Pipe Major for the Hamilton Pipe Band, two
time US Champions in Grades II and III as well as Best Overseas Band in
Grade II at the World Pipe Band Championships. As a solo competitor
Donald has won the "A" Grade marches at the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban,
Scotland (1994) and the Northern Meeting in Inverness, Scotland (1993).
He is also a three time winner of the Stone Mountain Invitational
Piobaireachd Contest.
On Saturday, Nov 18, and Sunday, Nov 19, Pipe Major MacPhee will be
