Check out the /pub/Festivals directory at the Ceolas archive. It's
accessible by FTP (celtic.stanford.edu) or World Wide Web
(http://celtic.stanford.edu/ceolas.html). If you are representing celtic
artists, you may also wish to send us publicity materials, which we can
use on the archive. See the file /pub/About.Ceolas for more details.

There is a Celtic/French festival in Randolph Vt in it's 2nd year, my
group has played at both. Good crowd, good music.

Mostly Celtic and French-Canadian musicians. I doubt that you'd have heard
of most of the players as we're mostly New England groups without
recordings (with the exception of course of Paddy Keenan, Pendragon and
Barand&Roberts). I'll give you the names anyway in case anyone gets out
your way, they're all worth hearing: Wind that Shakes the Barley (one of
the longest running Northern New England Irish bands, great ensemble
playing), Loose Cannon (a very hot “Celtic” group from New Hamster), Peat
Fire (a rather loose “session” group featuring a hot woman fiddler named
Vivica Fox), Jeter le Pont (French-Canadian singing and HOT!!! fiddle),
Eamon Flynn ( champion on whistle, fiddle and accordion), Les Freres Labri
(Franco songs and tunes) Sheefra (Vt. based concertina and harp from a
husband & wife team[he is also one of the top storytellers in the country
name of Tim Jennings}), Sarah Blair Band (traditional and not so trad
fiddle tunes, 2 hot women fiddlers 1 man fiddler and INCREDIBLE!!!
guitar), Mango Jam (Burlington Vt. based WICKED ZYDECO PARTY BAND) and of
course my band Poteen (Irish, British & Breton trad)

There is a publication that I have found recently named "The Scottish Banner".
It it published monthly in Canada and distributed in North America. In this
months paper they list about 80 "events" from September until June of next year.
The events are for Canada and the U.S. Contact names seem to be on every entry.
If you'd like I can mail or fax it to you.

If you need to see the list on a regular basis I suggest you get a subscription.
They want $19 + $1.33 GST per year, ($34+2.38GST) for 2 years. Their address
is :
The Scottish Banner
P.O. Box 724
Niagara Falls, Ontario
L2E 6V5

Phone: (716)754-4507

For what its worth, they say the are "The largest Scottish newspaper in the
world outside Scotland". Septembers issue was 36 pages. The size format is
very similar to a tabloid or Sun newspaper.

For the record, I am in NO way associated with this newspaper. I simply bought
it for the event listings recently and thought this info would be helpful.

The San Francisco Celtic Music & Arts Festival usually takes place in the
first 2 weeks of March. (Jeez, does EVERYTHING have to be in honor of St.
Patrick? After all, he WAS an agent of Roman imperialism! But I digress.)
It's two days of music, food and capitalism. It was held at the Festival
Pier at Fort Mason last year - awful acoustics - and had a great lineup,
although it was overly Ireland-oriented (no Scottish or Breton music at
all!) Check it out.

October 21-23, 1994 is the second annual Irish Party of the Year sponsored
by Green Linnet Records and held at Kutsher's Resort in Monitcello, NY. I
went last year and it is the best event of its kind I've ever attended.
Performers include Patrick St., Cherish the Ladies, Kips Bay Ceili Band,
Johnny and Phil Cunningham, Eileen Ivers, Seamus Egan. Cost includes
lodging at tacky kosher resort, bland kosher food and ocassional open
bars. Music goes from 10 am to 3 am!! 1-800-431-1273 for Kutsher's for
more info and reservations.
