Hi,
I am teacher preparing a lesson plan and wanted to include a ballad.
Unfortunately I remember it and most likely have a version somewhere,
but can not for the life of me, find it. It is a story of a sister
trying to save the life of her brother who is awaiting execution. She
makes a deal and trades her honor for his life but is betrayed in the
end as her brother is executed anyway. It is English or Celtic I
believe. "Gallows Pole" has a similar theme but is definitely not the
one.
Can you help me solve this mystery?
Thanks

Probably "Geordie", which exists in many versions, and is probably best
known to the general public by that of Joan Bez (look it up in
Wikipedia for more recordings); but it might be "Anathea", recorded by
Judy Collins on "Judy Collins #3".

Hope this helps.
