The Rankin Family have an instrumental set of two tunes called "The Clumsy
Lover Set".

The second tune in the set is "The Clumsy Lover", a hornpipe. Does anyone
know the name of the first tune?

Thanks,
Pat Riley Ottawa ON

PJ,

Are you perhaps thinking of the Barra MacNeils? They have a Clumsy Lover Set
on their Traditional Album with the following tunes :

1.The Clumsy Lover Set 4:06
Calliope House, Dave Richardson
Rory MacNab, Traditional
The Shetland Fiddler, Traditional
Clumsy Lover, Neil Dickie

Also on this album is the lovely "Memories of Mary Anne MacKenzie". If anyone
has seen an abc or link to this tune, please share it. Thanks.

Cheers,

B Uphill,

You are right - the group is the Barra MacNeils rather than the Rankin
Family. This is why I couldn't find it on the Web.

I've got it now and I even found a GIF of "Calliope House".

Thanks for your help,

Memories of Mary Anne MacKenzie
great tune!
My grandmother's (I share her with the Barra's)
The tune was written by Hector MacKenzie (her son & our uncle).
No link that I am awareof.

Hi Peter,

Your grandmother must have been (is?) quite a person to inspire such a fine tune.
Has Hector recorded it?
