Strange request I know! .... One of my colleagues from Scotland now
lives in Hong Kong and is getting married. He had a Scottish box
player booked for his wedding in November, but that guy has had to
head overseas for that period. He is now looking for a
replacement ... obviously I put myself forward to play, but he needs
someone local .... any contacts? - any idea?

Thanks

m.

I guess that it would be just as hard to find a Hong Kongan accordion player
in Scotland!

I guess a more appropriate title would have been "looking for an
accordionist in Hong Kong or Thailand who plays Scottish music for a
traditional Scottish wedding ....

Accordion is one of the top instuments used for Scottish Country Dance (SCD)
music, and SCD is surprising popular in some parts of Asia (it's quite big
in Japan).

Check the international HQ web site in Scotland (http://www.rscds.org), find
a nearby SCD group, and ask them how to contact their local musicians.

It looks like Singpore may have the nearest group to Hong Kong. It's still
a hike (er... flight, really), but they may be able to put you in touch with
some musicians who either travel, or know other musicians still nearer to
you.

Good luck!
