The ones listed in my offer are #103 Flight of the Green Linnet, #104 The
Celts Rise Again, and #105 Heart of the Gaels. Any info about any of the
compilations will be appreciated. It would also help me if you could
email the info, because my server is extremely spotty on picking up posts
to this ng.
Thanks in advance,

Only two quibbles: a) the CD case, which holds two discs, is too
compact and is difficult to remove disc 2 b) once you listen, you're
hooked! (My "to get" list has grown very, very long...ouch.).

Some corrections: Hard Cash is not a "sampler" - it's all original
recordings not previously available in any other form. While Richrad
Thompson is the co-producer (with Peter Filleul) and wrote three of the
songs, he did not write "all tracks". And finally, Green Linnet's
involvement with this is rather incidental - the original UK release was
on Topic's Special Delivery sub-label. To my knowledge, none of the
artists on this album has any other releases on Green Linnet and so it is
certainly not one of their budget catalogue samplers. Whether or not it
was a "failed" TV show is unknown - the BBC bowed to political pressure
not to show it and for all I know it might have been very good (we just
never got the chance to judge for ourselves).
But I certainly agree that it is a great album and well worth a listen.

The Celts Rise Again has among others, Len Graham, Andy Irvine and Patrick
Street, Kornog, Andy M. Stewart, Altan, The Tannehill Weavers, Robbie O'
Connell, Conny Dover (I think), etc. Personally, I like it quite a lot.
"Were he such a great god of love and kindness, he should not even
ask people to believe in him and pray to him and worship him. My own
mother gives me everything she has to give out of love for me,
whether I believe in her or not, whether I pray to her or not...Yes,
my mother is far, far greater than is your god. She has more eternal
love than your god has, and she is only human."

>I just got the "The Twentieth Anniversary Collection"--Absolutely
>superb! You get two CD's for the price of one.

I have two quibbles.
Why are the CD's in both a jewell case and a box but then the box is
only big enough to hold the jewel case? A thick book is stuffed
inside the jewel case. This is plain stupidity! Not stupidity in
that the book is thick, but that the book cannot be placed in the box
along the side of the jewel case (the way it has been done on "The
Original Folkways Recordings, 1960-1962 " by Doc Watson and Clarence
Ashley on the Smithsonian/Folkways label.
Why is "Song For Ireland" the featured track by Dick Gaughan? This
recording was already featured on an earlier Green Linnet sampler!
Sure, Gaughan does a brilliant job with this song, but I have grown
weary of it (it has also been recorded by Heather Heywood and De
Dannan). I wish Green Linnet had instead featured Gaughan's "Cragie
Hills" or "Now Westlin Winds", two songs I will never tire of.
Having said that, I must point out that this double CD sampler is a
remarkable value and a good introduction to the Green Linnet catalog.
I appreciate the fact that musicians are listed for each cut.
