This sort of message has appeared on all the newsgroups I subscribe to,
quite a broad spectrum. The distinguishing mark is the 4-digit number at
the end of the subject line, possibly an anti-spamtrap device. (Vary the
number, so it's not seen as an identical message.

Perhaps if we all ignore them they'll go away.

I put it down there, and when I went back to it, there it was GONE!

Mine too - all of them.

Yes and commonly done - and works too. Plus the deliberate miss-spelling of
masterbating.

I doubt it.

The posting has nothing to do with snakes or masterbating (sic) or even
masturbating or porn - other than the header. The real message is simply
from an ISP trying to market new accounts and free web-space.

This is a way of him/them posting/spreading commercial SPAM illegally, by
attracting attention (desperate and annoying and offensive though it is to
many) in some of the more respectable NGs and whilst circumventing both the
spam-traps and the letter of the law on such things in Usenet. Clever eh?

We apologise for this crap, but a juvenile infiltrated our website... And
btw would you like 100Mb of webspace bla bla bla.

The posts - which have gone to hundreds of larger newsgroups - were
apparently an "accident perpetrated by a webmaster who couldn't control
himself" or similar wording. Oh yes, of course - that explains it.

Some servers manage to filter it. I only know about this one because of
all the replies it generated - I never saw the original.
