I have had a copy of Japan's Oil On Canvas on CD for 5 years. The major
problem with it is that they cut off about 4 songs from the album so that
it came out around 60 minutes. I guess that five years ago they weren't too
big on making 79 minute CDs. A month ago I saw the new Virgin box set of
Japan: Oil On Canvas, Gentlemen Take Polaroids, and Tin Drum. Great! I look
at the box and it is clearly labeled that Oil On Canvas is complete with all
of the songs...just like the album (and video tape). So I wait and my wife
buys it for me for my birthday. I open it up and look at the jewel box of
Oil On Canvas...it has the same catalog number as the original...Uh Oh!
I read the on and notice that the track listing on the back of the jewel box
has the same songs missing as the original...whoops! I put the CD in and
guess what? It's only 60 minutes long! Shit! It's made from the exact same
master as the old one...all they did was put some silk screen picture on the
label. Needless to say we got our money back on that one.

Does anyone have the address for Virgin? I think this is a total rip. First of
all, they have the ability to remaster the CD with the missing tracks put back.
Second, they shouldn't have put the track list for the album on the box if the
CD doesn't match. Can you say misrepresentation? False advertising?

Still steamed...
