Where can I get Ivan Lins sheet music?. Any internet stores?

I guess nobody knows or you would have received a reply. All I can offer is
that Comecar de Novo is in The Real Book under the title "The Island" (If ever
there was a case of losing something in the translation, like the entire point
of the song, this is it!) The book may contain other songs of his but I don't
know.

If you find out more, please let us know.

That's a fine goal (exact translation), but I don't feel that the
English version of a song has to be a translation of the Portuguese. It
often results in stiff and stilted English . Sometimes it's better to
just start from scratch with the chords and melody.

I agree. And, of course, "The Island" is not a translation but a completely
different song with the opposite meaning. Where "The Island" says "I love
you," "Comecar..." says "good riddance!" Guess I just prefer the translation of
the orginal.

We've had this discussion many times, and it's true--it doesn't have to be a
translation. But it should at least strive to be of the same level,
artistically, which "The Island" doesn't even begin to.

Question; In " Sonnets from the Portuguese",was that actually a
translation, or just a title used?They are certainly not "stilted
english", but then they are not songs either and who knows how much the
meter changed. Sorry , for "off topic" away from Brazilian Recorded
Music, but it's a question that requires persons of your skills,and
backgrounds, and frankly I have always wondered about it . Thank You ,
