Baden Powell plays Joao Pernambuco

This should be of particular interest to all guitar freaks (and I use the term
affectionately, taking after the self-description of a guitarist friend).

I just received a CD of Baden's solo guitar, called 'João Pernambuco e o Sertão'
(SESC São Paulo).

There's no point in attempting to describe this excursion into magical
territory. Suffice it to say that Baden has plumbed the depths of João
Pernambuco's compositions, infusing them with new shades of contemplative
subtlety.

This disc is a must for all serious guitar-music lovers.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to obtain it, short of saying that it helps
to have friends in São Paulo. On the back cover there's this url that might be

I discovered that when I tried the url. Since then I learned that the CD is
available only at Sesc Vila Mariana in Sampa. The buyer has to go there
personally. Mobilizing your paulista friends is the solution.

There's another recent disc of João Pernambuco music -- this one recorded by
guitarist Leandro Carvalho. I haven't heard it, but here's the info:

I guess I have missed most of this thread. Without going over
old ground.....Does anyone know where I can get this CD?

I have tried all my guitar friends in Sao Paulo and nobody
seems to know about this disc. Any info will help.

As I mentioned in the post to which you just replied, the CD is available only
at Sesc Vila Mariana in São Paulo. It's necessary to go there in person to buy
the disc. Send one of your paulista friends there.

Sesc Vila Mariana opens at 13 h (1 pm), and the CD costs R$15.
