An FYI for those who can make it, Brazilian vocalist Kenia celebrates
the music of Dorival Caymmi with a terrific band (including Airto
Moreira on percussion) in Pittsburgh, PA on Oct 27th, 2009. More info
about the event is available on this link:

I made a post about Kenia a short while back and most of you know who
she is. For those who don't, Kenia is a terrific vocalist who's
recording and performing again after a 10 year hiatus. Her new CD
"Simply Kenia" is wonderful. More info about her is available on
these links:
Her site: www.kenialive.com
Her Myspace page with several music samples from her new CD:

Is she living in Pittsburgh now?

Dogmatism kills jazz. Iconoclasm kills rock. Rock dulls scissors.
Hi Gerry, the answer to your question is yes. You can read more about
her background and about what she's doing these days on the links
included in my original post. Are you in the bay area (CA)? It would
be great to see Kenia perform in the bay area some time soon!
(especially at a premium jazz club like at Yoshi's in Oakland, CA or
SF, CA... or Senzala in Sunnyvale... or anywhere for that matter!)
She told me that she has a killer band available on the west coast and
if you haven't heard her new CD "Simply Kenia" yet you must.

No, I'm in SoCal, in Santa Ana.
