It means " Shut your mouth boy".

Cala -> Shut (it's not the exact translation)
Boca -> Mouth
Menino ->Boy

joao donato is still around? gee whiz, i haven't seen a record by him
since the '70s! (i have a few of his 1960s pacific jazz albums and one
album by cal tjader where he plays a very cool-sounding organ).

I was under the impression that donato was LONG dead. Like maybe 10
years or more.

No. apparently he recently did some recording with that Japanese/Brazilian
singer Lisa Ono. (only available in Japan)

But speaking of necropop (that's my girlfriend's name for the Nat/Natalie
King Cole trick of re-recording with dead singers), there is a new CD in
homage to Clara Nunes where living singers are apparently dubbed into here
old recordings. What will they think of next?!!

But David, back in 91 or 92 (I hate some Brazilian CDs that don't
have the release date), Simone did exactly that when she recorded "Conto
de Areia" and had Clara Nunes' voice mixed with hers.

"Cala Boca Menino" means "shut your mouth (or shut up), kid".

The earliest example of necropop (great term!) I know of is the LP "Elis
Regina" (originally on the Som Livre label), "gravado e mixado nos
estudios da Sigla/Rio, entre outubro e novembro de 1984" -- Elis having
died in early 1982.
