Did anyone on the list order from this site? I checked it out when it
was posted and there were some interesting free DVDs. When I went
back to it today to place an order, I can't get into the site. Now
I'm wondering if it actually existed. Was I dreaming?

I checked the website two weeks ago when I saw the post and the link. I
couldn't find any DVDs of Jobim or Gilberto at that time.
I ordered DVDs from http://www.brazilianpressings.com/, and am still
waiting for the delivery. I will report back my experience. Has anybody
here also ordered things from Brazilian Presseings?

I got the DVDs today. They are burned DVDs. Look like converted from VHS
tapes. I have no problem to play them. The 4 DVDs I ordered are Joao
Gilberto's 5 concerts:
1. Live in Montreux 1985 / Live at Umbria Jazz 1996 (on one DVD)
2. Live in Sao Paulo
3. Live in Buenos Aires with Caetano
4. Live on TV 1980

They do business on eBay, and have a highly positive rating (97%) from the
buyers. I also didn't have any trouble. Three DVDs cost 14.50USD each, and
one costs 9.90USD.
I am not here recommending any website or eBay sellers, just provide some
information for people who want to buy Brazilian music DVDs.

Hmmm...if you buy THREE they are $14.50 each, but only $9.90 each
if you only buy ONE? Something is wrong here.

Buyers beware. They are bootlegs, transfered from video. The quality
leaves a little to be desired, basically they're for Joaophiles who
want everything they can get about JG, IMO. of course.

:) Conspiracy? I think you misunderstand what I meant there. I bought 4
DVDs. For three of them, it costs 14.5 each. The other costs 9.9. I also
don't understand why this one is cheaper, or in another word, why the
other three are more expensive.

Yes. I mentioned in my previous email that they were burned DVDs. I didn't
know that before I ordered them. But, I am just very happy even after I
received them and found they were bootlegs. (A Joaophile?)
Do you know whether Joao's concerts are offcially available on DVD, and if
yes, where to buy them? I just can't find any useful info on Google. Any
information is greatly appreciated.

If you want to watch João Gilberto concerts, bootlegs are the only
option available. There has never been a commercial release of any
concert video.
In November 2006, João's first official DVD was recorded in a Tokyo
concert, but the artist decided to cancel its release last spring.
Enjoy your bootlegs.

Thanks, Daniella. I guess the concert you are referring to here is the one
published on CD titled "In Tokyo"?
