Hi. I am marrying an incredible woman from Porto Alegre later this
year. Our wedding song is going to be Tom Jobim's "Chega de Saudade."
Can someone please provide for me the lyrics in English? I love this
song, and it has a ton of meaning for me, but I have never seen the
English lyrics.

Thanks!

I knew that, but thanks. Actually, I know the gist of the song, but the
exact lyrics escape me.

These are not the English lyrics but an English tranlation of the Portuguese
(scroll to the bottom):

Chega de Saudade
(Antonio Carlos Jobim/Vinícius de Moraes)

Vai minha tristeza
E diz a ela que
Sem ela não pode ser
Diz-lhe numa prece
Que ela regresse
Porque eu não posso mais sofrer

Chega de saudade
A realidade é que sem ela
Não há paz não há beleza
É só tristeza e a melancolia
Que não sai de mim
Não sai de mim
Não sai
Mas se ela volta
Se ela volta
Que coisa linda
Que coisa louca
Pois há menos peixinhos
A nadar no mar
Do que os beijinhos
Que eu darei na sua boca
Dentro dos meus braços os abraços
Hão de ser milhões de abraços
Apertado assim, colado assim, calado assim,
Abraços e beijinhos e carinhos
Sem ter fim
Que é pra acabar com esse negócio
De viver longe de mim
Não quero mais esse negócio
De você viver assim
Vamos deixar desse negócio
De você viver sem mim

Go, my sadness
And tell her that
Without her it cannot be.
Tell her in a prayer
To return to me,
For I can't suffer anymore.
No more longing,
The truth is that without her
There's no peace, there's no
beauty,
There's only sadness and
melancholy,
That doesn't leave me,
Doesn't leave me,
Doesn't leave,
But if she returns,
If she returns,
What a beautiful thing
What a crazy thing,
For there are fewer fishes
Swimming in the sea
Than the kisses
That I'll plant on her mouth,
In my arms the
embraces,
There'll have to be millions of
embraces,
Tight like this, stuck like this,
Quiet like this,
Embraces and kisses and caresses
Without end.
It's time to end that
business
Of living away from me,
I no longer want that business
Of your living like this,
Let's stop this business
Of your living without me

Daniella

I don't know if these translations will differ at all from Daniella's but here
are two great sources of bossa nova lyrics:

Jason Brazile's bossa nova transcriptions site

Antonio Carlos Jobim - Club do Tom

Enjoy, and congratulations!

If you knew that the English version of the song was "No More Blues",
is *that* the song you'd like the lyrics for?

Paul,

It is for a good cause, so here are the English lyrics you requested.
The words are by Jon Hendricks and Jessie Cavanaugh. There are even a
couple of verses for a female singer. Congratulations!

No more blues,
I'm goin' back home,
No, no more blues,
I promise no more to roam.
Home is where the heart is
The funny part is
My heart's been right there all along.

No more tears and no more sighs,
And no more fears,
I'll say no more goodbyes.
If travel beckons me
I swear I'm gonna refuse,
I'm gonna settle down
And there'll be no more blues.

Ev'ry day while I am far away
My thoughts turn homeward,
Forever homeward.
I travelled 'round the world in search of happiness
But all my happiness I found was in my hometown.

No more blues,
I'm goin' back home,
No, no more dues,
I'm through with all my wandrin'
Now I'll settle down and
*** Live my live and build a home
*** And find a wife
When we settle down there'll be no more blues,
Nothin' but happiness,
When we settle down
There'll be no more blues.

(Female alternate for verses marked with ***)
Never roam and find a man
And make a home
