I have been trying to locate the music to Jobim's beautiful song,
"Estate" for piano or guitar but have been unable to find it. I was told
by music stores that it is unpublished. If anyone has the music I would
greatly appreciate him/her contacting me.

i don't know of any song called *estate* written by tom jobim, but there
is a tune with that name on joao gilberto's 1977 release *amoroso.*
(warner bros. bs 3053) maybe that's the one? (it IS beautiful) oh, and by
the way, it's an italian song written by bruno martino and bruno
brighetti.

Hi pidipat

Do you know where I can get the music for "estrada do sol"
for solo guitar? I love the piece, but cannot find a
solo arrangement. Thanks.

Estate was written by Bruno Martino/BrunoBrighetti. Two versions that
I can find in my collection are:

Joao Gilberto - Live in Montreux
and
Shirly Horn - I Thought About You - "Summer" is the translation.

Hi, I guess I lost the beginning of this thread, but I have here some
Information on the song "Estate": composed by Bruno Martino and Bruno
Bringhetti, there is now a new record from Joao Gilberto ( Ao Vivo -
Eu sei que vou te amar - Heineken Concerts) with a version of it. Th e
record itself, by the way, is marvellous, a must!

the song is "estate" which means summer and was written not by tom but
by bruno brighetti who I believe is Italian. It is on an album of mostly
brazilian songs sung by Suzanne McCorkle on the Concord Jazz label. I
have the estrada del sol album which is more of a classical piece by
tom. Anyway I am still trying to locate the music

Estate which means "summer" was written not by tom as I had thought but
by Bruno Brighetti, which does sound Italian. It is on an album sung by
Susannah McCorkle called "Sabia" with mostly brazilian songs. Estrada
del sol is a classically oriented piece by tom. Anyway I'm still trying
to find the music

Estrada do Sol, music by Jobim, is available in one of the Jobim music
collection books (don't know the title off-hand), but it's accessible.

Estate means summer and the composer was not tom who I had mistakenly
though but was written by Bruno Brighetti who sounds Italian. Estate was
also sung by Susannah McCorkle on a CD named "Sabia" which has mostly
brazilian songs.It's a fine album.
Estrada del sol was more of a classically oriented piece by tom. I wish
he had time to have written more in that style. I don't know where to
get the guitar piece but why not contact the producers of the album and
perhaps they could contact Sharon. Just a thought...

in Rio playing "Estate", and I have the album with this show, which is
from last year. what is this video of him that you have?

It's at least in Volume 2 of the Songbook Tom Jobim published by Lumiar
Editora. It is also in Volume 1 of Songbook Bossa Nova. I don't know of
any decent guitar solo arrangement or a piano version.

Living and learning! Who'd have thought so? Thanks for the info.
Now, if "estate" does not mean summer, what *does* it mean?

*Estate*: music written by Bruno Martino, lyrics in Italian by Bruno
Brighetti, lyrics in English by Joel E. Seigel. Good recordings can be
found by Joao Gilberto, Shirley Horn, and many others. It most certainly
means *Summer*.
