I bought this album some days ago. It is an excellent album (1962)
featuring Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, Reggie Workman and Philly
Joe Jones on Blue Note label.

My favorite cuts are Father And Son and Body And Soul.
I wonder why nobody recommended it in the recommendations thread.
Are there also other great albums out there similar to the above
that haven't been recommended? Of course there are. Plenty.
Throw some in the discussion.

Probably because it wasn't released at the time, which means perhaps 2
things - 1: that the "old folks" around at the time don't know it and
2: that people think it's substandard because it didn't come out in
1962.

I think it's a beautiful album, but would put it behind my favorite BN
Hubbards - Ready For Freddie and Hub Tones.

It is a nice CD, but there are other Blue Notes by Freddie i prefer. Two
favorites of mine are Open Sesame with Tina Brooks; and Goin' Up with Hank
Mobley. These are two early ones and they are very hard swinging straight
ahead recordings with wonderful tenor players to boot.
