Fine recordings by Mel Martin and Bebop and Beyond are now exclusively
available online at http://www.melmartin.com . They are classics some of
which were funded in part by the National Endowment for the arts. A number
of the compositions are also available as free downloads.

These recordings feature some the greatest jazz artists of all time and
are truly collector's items. The masterclass and play-along cds are
superb, one-of-a-kind educational tools that belong in every student's
collection.

Mel Martin Plays Benny Carter
featuring Benny Carter CD-9041 2
A mellow recording of Benny Carter's great compositions featuring two
all star rhythm sections and an appearance by Benny Carter himself on
three tracks recorded live at Yoshi's Nitespot. The remaining tracks were
done in Rudy Van Gelder's famous studio featuring the great Kenny Barron
on piano. This was Mel Martin's first solo recording project. Feature
Band Interview with Mel Martin, Kenny Barron, Rufus Reid and Victor Lewis
discuss the music on the recording with Dr. Herb Wong.

Mel Martin and Bebop & Beyond Plays Dizzy Gillespie
featuring Dizzy Gillespie CD-R2 7917
The second in Bebop and Beyond's Jazz Masters Series, this was Dizzy
Gillespie's final studio date and the only time he ever recorded his
original theme song I Waited for You as a vocal. Widely acknowledged as
his best recorded performance in his later years, Downbeat awarded it four
stars. The all star ensemble features piano great George Cables, legendary
drummer Donald "Duck" Bailey and well known percussionist John Santos. Mel
Martin arranged all pieces and co-composed one with Diz, Father Time. This
one is a true jazz classic.

Mel Martin and Bebop & Beyond Plays Thelonious Monk
featuring Joe Henderson and Howard Johnson - CD R2 79154
The first in Bebop and Beyond's Jazz Masters Series, this all
Theloniouis Monk recording is known far and wide for its accurate
rendition of seldom played Monk compositions. Produced by Monk's original
producer, Orrin Keepnews, it features tenor saxophone star Joe Henderson
and multi-instrumentalist Howard Johnson as well the rest of the Bebop and
Beyond Ensemble. The arrangements by Mel Martin are based on the original
charts but adapted to the specific requirements of Bebop and Beyond.

CD-244 Special Edition
This was the debut recording for Bebop and Beyond originally issued by
Concord Jazz on LP only. This special edition features a newly remastered
digital CD sound. The band was really hitting its peak and had been
rehearsing for months and had done a number of high profile gigs. The
music was a reflection of the original philosophy of performing classic
bebop jazz and forward looking originals. Alto great John Handy was a full
fledged member at this time as was pianist George Cables. Mel Martin was
functioning, as he has on all Bebop and Beyond projects, as Artistic
Director. Two of his original compositions are featured, the classic
Longhorn and the uptempo One for All.

Mel Martin Saxophone Masterclass
CD-245
Mel Martin's Saxophone Masterclass was originally released in the
May/June 1995 issue of Saxophone Journal. Recorded in Mel Martin's Big Ear
Studio, it includes a number of Jazz articulation exercises, two original
duets and instruction by Mel Martin. Digitally remastered, it also
includes three solo saxophone tracks and a bonus track, Mr. B.C. by Bebop
and Beyond.

Sittin' In with Mel Martin and Bebop and Beyond
CD-246
Sittin' In with Mel Martin and Bebop and Beyond was originally
published in the December/1993 issue of Jazz Player and is designed to
give the player a scaled level of performance from simple to difficult.
The members of Bebop and Beyond play solos and holes are left for the
player to play solos and have exchanges. The play-along environment is
designed to be as close to the real experience as possible. The CD is
digitally remastered and edited. Included are transposed charts, a Tony
Dagradi transcription of Mel Martin's solo on Longhorn and a newly
recorded version of Longhorn by Bebop and Beyond 2000.
