Kenny Baldock RIP

"The great bassist Kenny Baldock died yesterday from cancer after
being ill for a long time. He was a superb player and a perfectionist.
He took a long time tuning his instrument , to the great annoyance of
George Melly, in whose backing group he played. George who's natural
ability to fluctuate in and out of and around tune was enhanced by his
deafness couldn't wait to get to his audience and operated strictly on
the 'it's close enough for jazz' principle". - Steve Voce
