I will be in the Chicago area in a couple of weeks and would like to
know what stations to tune my rental car radio too. Any suggestions?

(Please no stations that have Stanley Crouch as a disc jockey ;->!! )

Try WBEZ (91.5 FM) in the evenings,as they play a fairly wide cross-section of
stuff (although they lean toward the traditional). WNUR (89.3 FM) is harder to
pick up due to their lower wattage, but they have a show weekday mornings.
Do _not_ bother listening to WNUA, however...their fuzak format is "smooth
jazz", but only if your idea of "smooth" is synonymous with "somnabulistic".

Gad. What are you, telepathic or something? That was last night's nightmare...

Another good one is WDCB (90.9 FM) from the College of DuPage. There is
plenty of jazz programming throughout the day.

I remember passing through WNUA (95.5 FM) one afternoon just as they
were going to play the results of the "Listeners' top 3 fave Kenny G
tunes" poll. Sorry folks, I don't know what the tunes were.

I tried to send e-mail to the original poster, but it couldn't be delivered.
Everything I sent was covered by the previous two postings except WNIB (97.9?)
They play classical during the day. After midnight on weekdays they have a
program that usually features what sounds like soul to me. But they do
Jazz sometimes.
