I was watching PBS the other night. Carly Simon was on, recorded live at
grand Central Station.
A flash of the drummer and I thought to myself; I know this guy...
I was right. It WAS Rick Marotta! This is one of the most under-rated
drummers in the jazz-pop world.
Carly had a funky sound, worth watching and listening to.
It's great to see Rick again!
Peter
How old was that show?
Haven't heard anything about Rick OR Jerry for a long time...

That band also featured mah boy Doug Wimbish on bass guitar--a massive
talent, very musical cat. Plays with intelligence and diplomacy.
Skippo
Skippo,
He was great! Thanks for his name.
Peter
Doug "Wimbish"?
"WIMBISH"????
Hmmmmmm. Anybody on the band named Sepilmut or Clotho?
GJ
GJ,
It was 04/95.
I love those guys. I'm going to post about them and see what comes up.
I have the fondest memories or Rick with Steve TOGETHER behind John
Tropea and Ralph MacDonald's solo band.
Peter
Never heard of Doug Wimbish? He's a very good electric bassist.
Spoken like a man with a well-worn copy of the
"Boys In The Trees" album sleeve.

I once caught a Larry Carlton gig of which the highlight was a duet
jam between Rick Marotta and Abe Laboriel. That was probably the single
groovinest, funkiest thing I've ever heard in my life. Those two guys
should just cut a duo record together. Either one of them can funk up
a room all by himself, and when you put them together it's awesome.

I'm not positive. I was just looking for my TackHead CDs to confirm the
spelling, but I couldn't find them (...I know they're around here
somewhere). Cheers.

Wimbish. Two i's. He was also Muzz Skillings' replacement in Living
Colour.
Jeff, look over next to your Joni Mitchell 8 tracks (thanks for loaning
them to me BTW).
Salud!
