Yes, it's true. Perhaps 18 years ago, JB was into Black capitalism. He
owned one or more grocery stores or shopping centers and wanted African-
Americans (tho we didn't call ourselves that then) to pull ourselves up
by our collective bootstraps. Part of the deal were James Brown trading
stamps, much like the then popular S&H Green stamps. I never saw any but
a trip to the library would probably turn up an article or two in Jet or
Ebony magazine.
