The first three that come to mind are:
Bobby Hutcherson
Milt Jackson
Gary Burton
All are "present."

"I begin by tearing a button from his collar/ And say: Friend, let us question
fate!/ We want to see:/ If the holes face upwards/ Perhaps you will get nothing
at all/ And needn't wait around./ Let me see if you are out of luck!/ And I
throw the button and say: You are./ Then you say: But these holes/ Go right
through! Then I say: That's how it is." -Brecht, "Ballad of Tossing the Button"

For starters:
Red Norvo, Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, Gary Burton, Cal Tjader (some
argument possible there), Bobby Hutcherson.
I could probably think of others if I thought about it for more than five
minutes or so.

Walt Dickerson (sadly underrated, with no new recordings in quite a few
years, although a wonderful gig at the Vanguard last year with Andrew
Cyrille on drums showed me he was still a great player)
Jay Hogard (not the more commercial recent stuff, but the early 80s
material on labels like India Navigation and Pausa)
Bobby Hutcherson (especially the Blue Notes from the 60s, before he became
a neo-bopper befroe it was fashiable)
Karl Berger--look for him on some Don Cherry recordings (Complete Communion
[to be included in the long rumored and hoped for Don Cherry box from
Mosaic], and Live at Montmartre) besides his own recordings (where he
also plays piano)

Another good place to hear Hoggard, in a supporting role, is on James
Newton's _African Flower_ (thanks for the initial recommendation, Bill.)
