Leader, composer/keyboardist Marc Rossi has released a debut album which is
second to none. Marc holds a long list of credentials from all facets of
the music industry. Marc is a professor of music at Berklee College, a
teacher of world music at the New England Conservatory of Music, with ties
to classical, symphonic works, string quartets, and of course jazz. In
Marc's new release "We Must Continue" he brings in feelings from all around
the world while also making you feel right at home. When asked about the
motivation of his works, Marc says, "As a composer and improviser, I draw a
circle around everything in my world and make it vibrate." And vibrate he
does. The album begins with the title track that walks in with a reggae
feel and smoothly takes you through to a guitar solo finale by Bruce Arnold
that makes you want to stand up and shout for more. Marc showcases his
keyboarding talent on the "Two Lives" track with his improvisational finger
rolls, giving his keyboard a somewhat humanistic singing ability telling a
story that you want to hear more about. As the leader, Marc has lined-up a
group of supremely talented musicians; Lance Van Lethen blaring sax solos
that touch the deepest depths in you; Bill Urmson who keeps the bass line
strong and steady; Ed Uribe creating newfangled measures with the
percussion; Alan Hall forming the background foundation on the drums; Bruce
Arnold playing on the strings of your inner soul on his guitar; and last
but not least Syd Smart giving us the new world sound of the shekere. Jazz
fans around the world are sure to be talking about this great new release.
