I think it might have been the year 2000 or maybe 2001. A song got
some airtime that included (I believe) both Mile Davis and John Lee
Hooker, but, it was a mix or redub of their music. I think it was
recorded by another band completely. The problem is I have no idea
who that group was or the title of the song. I wish I could give some
more clues as to the song I am talking about. Anybody have any ideas?
thank you.

Both Davis and Hooker played on the soundtrack to the film "The Hot
Spot" issued on Antilles records in 1990.

Right. Hot Spot is a great album. But the original poster is referring
to a remix of that material and I guess it must be the album "Tourist"
by St.Germain, a French dance/electronic/groove group. The track using
material from the Hot Spot session is called "Sure Thing". There is an
extended version of the album which I think includes extra tracks, a
different version of that song included. However, the track (at least
the standard version which the one I have heard) does use Miles'
trumpet, just the guitar and moaning of Hooker. I enjoy the entire
album a lot, it is one of the best, most tasteful and and jazziest
efforts in that genre.
