What happened to bassist Juni Booth ( I hope I have the spelling of his
first name right....) Used to play with McCoy, and was quite active in NY
thru the 70's...........THX

I see Juini Booth from time to time. He lives in Buffalo, NY (his
hometown). He has played with many many incredible musicians over the
years. I suppose he's best known for playing and recording with McCoy
Tyner, but he's also played with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Coleman
Hawkins, Thelonious Monk, Joe Henderson, etc. etc. etc... I saw him
playing with Sun Ra in the early 90's. He recently played a concert in
Buffalo of original music (I was fortunate enough to play in the band
too). I hope that answers your question!

Take care,
John

There's a recording by Gary Bartz, in the 70s, featuring Andy Bey on
vocals. They do a tune called "The Viet Cong". It has some of the most
wonderful walking bass I've ever heard. Juni Booth was listed in the
credits as having played it. It was a source of confusion for me because
also listed on the record was Ron Carter playing very bad (IMHOP) ELECTRIC
BASS. This isn't unprecedented. If you recall he played E.bass on
Freddie Hubbards Red Clay and Quincy Jones' Walking in Space (I think).
So not knowing Mr. Booth I couldn't imagine this cat way out playing Mr.
Carter and way Gary Bartz would do a record and have Ron Carter play
Electric bass.
