I have got an enigma and hope somebody can help me solve it.

Recently I bought a Japanese CD on the VAP label titled "Piano
Playhouse+8." According to the liner notes in English by Jeff Barr,
this is a recording of 16 standards played by six West-Coast pianists,
namely Carl Parkins, Jimmy Rowles, Paul Smith, Gerald Wiggins and Lou
Levy, each pianist providing three tracks. Additionally, the liner
notes state that the recording was originally made for Mode records,
but was never released by that firm. Instead, VSOP records "re-issued"
a recording that was never released in the first place. [There are
also liner notes in Japanese, but since I grew up in Eastern Kentucky,
my knowledge of Japanese is somewhat limited.]

But the Japanese CD I have contains 8 more titles [thus the title of
the album], with the addition of a new pianist, identified as "Rodger
Fleming" on the album but as "Roger Fleming" on the VSOP online
catalogue.

So my questions are: (1) who is/was Rodger/Roger Fleming? and (2) how
did these additional 8 tracks get added to the original 16? [An
intensive internet search for Rodger/Roger Fleming turned up zilch.]

Many thanks, and happy holidays to all!

Sorry, but that brief description of a Clora Bryant album on which
"Roger Fleming" played the piano does not answer either of my
questions. However, there could be some information about Fleming on
the album's liner notes. Does anybody have that album? If so, can you
check for any data about Fleming? Thanks!

Clora Bryant is a trumpeter, not a "vocalist," and her biography
reveals an extraordinary life. Yes, there actually are some female
jazz instrumentalists, and she is one of the great ones.

I'm still hoping that somebody has the liner notes to the Clora Bryant
album and can find a reference to the mysterious Mr. Fleming...

I believe Roger Fleming played in the pacific northwest in the 50's ad 60's. At onetime he led a trio with the (well known) drummer Roy McCurdy and a basist named Joe Herman. I am the basist's brother and was a drummer myself, playing in NYC in the 60's.
