I don't know much about him, but a 1963 Dizzy Gillespie recording,
SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW (Philips PHS600-091) has three of his
compostions, NOVEMBER AFTERNOON, CUP BEARERS. and THE DAY AFTER. One
side ("something old") consists of old bebop standards, and the other
("something new") has the 3 McIntosh pieces and one other cut.

He is (was?) also a trombonist. Born in Baltimore in Feb. 1927. He
contributed at least one tune ("Balanced Scales=Justice") to the Thad
Jones-Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra book. The tracks on Dizzy's album are
good.
Tom McIntosh, (b. 1927, Baltimore, graduated Julliard 1958; Grove). I
first came across his work when he replaced trombonist Curtis Fuller in
the Art Farmer Benny Golson "Jazztet" in the eary sixties. Aside from his
work with the Jones-Lewis band later on, I think his best work on record
is the writing and arranging he did on a series of James Moody records
(Sextet to Big-Band) recorded on several labels (Argo, Cadet, Milestone,
etc) and for the co-op group, the New York Jazz Sextet (Farmer, Moody,
McIntosh, Tommy Flanagan, Richard Davis, Albert Heath) "Group Therapy"
on Scepter
Interesting player and especially as a writer and arranger, Maybe
there's a Mosaic set in his future.

You may also hear him play on a recent Chess/GRP issue: Art Farmer/
Benny Golson Jazztet: Blues on Down, GRD-802. His composition
A November Afternoon is on the album, with four compositions by
Golson, one by Randy Weston, one by Art Farmer + more. I believe
there were more Jazztet albums, and more McIntosh compositions and
arrangement (& playing). He sounds good.
