ok, I'm getting married in a couple weeks. We'd like our parents to
dance to the song that they danced to at their wedding (I had hoped to
have a mashup made, but, parents are slow with answering) but all my
parents can tell me is that they danced to a Billy Eckstine song.

So....

I know this is a wildly insane question, but... What song do you
think would have been likely for a couple to dance to at their wedding
in 1958? If it helps, they were 23. =)

My chances are slim, but, hey, someone might actually have a good
answer.

Thanks!

No way would it be "My Foolish Love". Maybe "Prisoner of Love"? Heh, heh.
There's also: "Everything I Have is Yours" or "I Apologize". Those last two,
though, would be more appropriate for future wedding anniversary
celebrations!! Personally speaking, "I only have eyes for you" might be
safe choice. "Blowing the Blues Away" might be a good selection as they
leave for their second honeymoon!!

If it's not "Prisoner Of Love," it's probably "My Foolish Heart."

Or, more probably, the one I remember from the 50's: "That Old Black Magic."

What about "All Of My Life," which he recorded in 1957:

All my life
I've been waiting for you
My wonderful one
I've begun
Living all my life
All my love
Has been waiting for you
My life is sublime
Now that I'm
Giving all my love
You seem so lovely, so far above me
I'm almost afraid to look
But I adore you, I pledge before you
A heart that's an open book
All my life
Hold me close to your heart
But all else above
Hold my love
Darling, just hold my love

I have no idea, but if in the strictly non-rock and roll realm, The
Four Aces' "Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing" from 1955 was probably
still popular in many parts. Also in the non-R&B/non-R&R category,
Sinatra's "All The Way" from 1957 was probably still a number to be
reckoned with.
If you want to go back to 1947, Judy Garland's & Gene Kelly's "For Me
& My Gal" may still have had some fans, but it wasn't that
contemporary in '57.

Is it possible that it was not Billy Eckstine but Al Hibbler? If
so,Unchained Melody is from that era and could be a possibility.
