I wonder if anyone may know the whereabouts and/or situation of two of
my favorite DJs: Sid McCoy and Dan Sorkin. Both were active on Chicago
radio at least through part or all of the 1950's and 60's. Both had
great taste in music and provided me with many happy hours of
listening. I believe both migrated to the west coast some years ago,
and I believe Sid McCoy did some acting; Dan Sorkin, I remember, moved
to Synanon, which is now defunct I have heard. Any info will be
greatly appreciated by a grateful listener.

I don't know where Dan Sorkin is now...but I remember him well when I
was a freshman at Northwestern U in 1961.
He was a verbal avalanche who could talk continually witout breathing
for two hours at a time!!! Strange to hear his name
emerge out of the Internet murkiness. Will be curious to see if you get
a reply Clarke Harris

I was too young to remember the Rose Bimler bit, I guess. I remember Howie
Roberts. He had his own show in the mid- or late '50s. I think he came on
right after Sorkin. Mike Rapchak (jazz DJ Dick Buckley's good buddy) did
the overnight show. He was on WGN radio for several years over night
Saturday night/Sunday morning until a couple of years ago when they fired
him.

The main reason I listened to the "Voice of Labor in Chicago" was the Sox
games with Bob Elson and Don Wells.

Dan Sorkin is alive & well & living in Northern California.
He can be heard on San Francisco area radio stations
from time to time and still has a great sense of humor.
