I'm very interested in buying an album by Corrie van Binsbergen, but
have only been able to hear 30-second snippets. Could anyone recommend
the album that would be most accessible to someone who is more of a
rock fan, but is a great fan of Frank Zappa, particularly the mid-70s
albums such as _Roxy and Elsewhere_.
The CvB albums that it looks like I'd be able to buy are:
/* cut and paste */
3012.001 - Links>>
3012.002 - Corrie en de Grote Brokken - Kado uit de hel!>>
3012.003 - Vanbinsbergen>>
3012.004 - Corrie en de Grote Brokken special double album>>
Yep, that isn't much choice.
Cheers,

Accessibility is not going to be a problem for a Zappa fan. The only
concern in that regard would be the fact that some of the vocals are in
Dutch. (All of the instrumentals are in English.)

These two both feature instrumentation similar to Roxy + Elsewhere.
Corrie en de Grote Brokken features the most explicitly Zappaesque
pieces, Zoot Suit and I Wasn't Talking (the latter title responding to
Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar).
Kado uit de Hel may contain more talking and singing in Dutch (though I
haven't done a systematic comparison). But it contains Betty Blue, one
of my favorites.

This one is two guitars, bass, and drums. It contains another recording
of Zoot Suit part 1.

I haven't heard it. The instrumentation is guitar, piano, percussion,
violin, viola, and cello.

So get them all.
Otherwise, the order into which I've rearranged the titles is the order
in which I'd recommend them to a fan of Roxy & Elsewhere.

Betty Blue also appears on "Corrie En De Brokken Live", which should
also be recommended. Maybe even more Roxy-like in instrumentation than
"de Grote Brokken" (which is little more like FZ's '88 band), and some
extensive Zappa quotes.

I second that.

I think it was Jeroen Janssens (are you reading this, Jeroen?) who
sent me a clip of her music as FZ concert-tape filler which sounded a
*lot* like the '88 band - a bit too much for comfort, IMO. Perhaps I
should give her another chance, though.

I think it's out of print, though.
