I don't know, but I do know that there is not enough MIDIs or transcriptions
or anything about Kind of Blue. Such a great album, so little recognition.
:)

Where on Earth did he get the idea that So What is in E Dorian? Either he
needs a new record player, to get his instrument tuned, or a hearing aid. I
don't mean to sound critical, but in playing along w/ the record in E
Dorian, something sounded very wrong.

I haven't seen many of the fusion tunes, but most of the tunes from
"Kind Of Blue" era can be found in the various fakebooks out there - see
especially the Hal Leonard "Ultimate Jazz Fakebook" and "Real Jazz
Book".

< where did he get the idea so what is in E dorian?> that is written
for B flat trumpet, which is written 1 whole step higher. Try going to
http://www.continuum.com.bi/ hit english version, hit scores, hit
trumpet, hit so what, where you'll find it written as you would expect.

Maybe he's a tenor sax or a trumpet or a clarinet player.

Oops. Forgot. I play two concert instruments, so that didn't occur to me. I
fiddled around with clarinet, but that didn't alter my thinking much.

Actually, Hal Leonard publishes a book: "Miles Davis- Kind of Blue
Transcribed Score". ISBN: 0634011693

Not sure if this URL will wrap or not:

http://www.halleonard.com/item_detail.jsp?itemid=672460&catcode=0&refer=search&type=product&keywords=miles+davis+

If you can't click it, just go to the Hal Leonard site and search
for 'Miles Davis'.

I have a book called simply "Miles Davis" I bought it in a music
store about 10 years ago. It hard charts of everything from Birth of
the Cool stuff, up to Jack Johnson. Including bass lines, chords, and
the melodies.

20 years ago, in college, we had a set of fakebooks, I thought they
were the "Berklee Books". they had transcriptions of a number of Miles
solos. I still have the trans of his solo on "Petit Machins" for
Filles de Kilamanjaro. Lost everything else, however...

They're out there, but you might need to go to a college music
library.

Just what I've been looking for!

Thanks for the heads up, Mark!

Sure thing. One thing to check tho--I had thought that book was
transcriptions of Miles' trumpet solos (like their book of Coltrane
solos). The Hal Leonard website description sounds like charts for
all instruments. Not sure if there are two different books, but it
may be good to ask before ordering the book. If you get it from
Aebersold, you could ask Matt. He generally knows that stuff.

OK...I was near a music store today, so I checked that book.
Whaddaya know... Looks like it's got all the parts (well, at least
the main parts for the heads...some of Evans' parts just say
'piano comp') AND transcribed solos.
