I have "Mysterious Traveler" from '74 and "Heavy Weather" from '77
on cassette. There are NO liner notes or personnel listings on the
cassette. I assume the lineup includes...
Joe Zawinul
Wayne Shorter
Jaco Pastorious
Is this correct?... Who else appears on these albums?
Thanks in advance,
Joe Murtha
Zawinul, Acuna, Shorter, Pastorius and Badrena.

Someone else has replied about "Heavy Weather". I'm not sure what the
line-up was exactly for "Mysterious Traveller" but Jaco Pastorius was
not on it. I'm pretty sure that Dom Um Romao and Alphonso Johnson were
on it but all I'm going on is my hazy recollection of the photos on
the album cover. Of course Zawinul and Shorter are the only ones to have
played on *all* WR recordings.

On "Heavy Weather", you've also got Alex Acuna on drums
and Manolo Badrena on percussion.
As for "Mysterious Traveler", I don't have that one, but
I know that Pastorius was not in the picture yet.
I believe it was Alphonso Johnson on bass, who took over
after Miroslav Vitous left. I'm sure some more accurate
info is on its way...

Whatever happened to all the talk about a supposed WR reunion
that was discussed here earlier in the year?

Judging from the info given below (and hopefully transcribed without
any typos on my part :-)) it would have been probably difficult to fit
the all the info, in readable form, on the typical meager cassette
insert notes (which is, nevertheless, no excuse for record companies
omitting this type info on cassettes and sometimes CDs). Hope this helps.

My '74 "Mysterious Traveller" album has Zawinul, Shorter, Miraslav
Vitous (rather than Pastorius), Alphonso Johnson, "Dom Um Romao, and
Ishmael Wilburn.

Actually, there was a list of the names of the six members whose pictures
appear on the back : Zawinul, Shorter, Alphonso Johnson, Ishmael Wilburn
(where is he now?), Don Um Romao, Miroslav Vitous. Original pressings of the
album had an inner sleeve that gave a complete personnel listing for each
track (including some additional musicians), but it wasn't included with
the copy of the LP I bought in '86 or so, and the info didn't make it to the
CD. However, the list has been posted once or twice over the course of this
thread.
