It's weird... but now that I'm on to him, what album[s] should I look for?
TIA

Always remember: your focus determines your reality.
A great album, still available is COME ALONG WITH ME... My favorite is long out
of print - - There I Go, There I Go. (There I Go, There I Go was his lyric to
Moody's Mood For Love.) Things Are Getting Better and Body & Soul are some
other good ones. I like his stuff on Prestige the most (!) There's also
a fantastic video w/ Richie Cole you can get (Live At The Jazz Showcase)...
And here's a clip of Giacomo singing DEXTER DIGS IN on my CD... and you can
tell what a brilliant lyricist Eddie was...

(Two Blue Note recording legends can be heard on it... Ben Dixon and James
Spaulding. I'm on Hammond B-3 of course.)
When you listen to Lambert Hendricks and Ross and The Manhattan Transfer you're
hearing what he started. Hopefully you've also hear King Pleasure's version
of Parker's Mood as well. And now, Giacomo Gates, who is a REAL true blue
Eddie Jefferson disciple made the Downbeat Critic's Poll.
Whatever, if my session does any damage, or even gets picked up by an American
label after its released in Europe, I hope it'll help others REMEMBER the
master. Go to http://www.doodlinlounge.com and e-mail Pete and ask him if he
ever plans to re-air his one hour special about Eddie on his Doodlin Lounge
Radio show, heard across the web at kusp.org.

I'd heard several of his tunes on the radio over the years but personal fave is
with James Moody and crew doing "Disappointed" which is a vocalise take of a
JATP Bird solo (I believe...) of "Lover come back to me". Jefferson's vocal is
phenominal and Moody's tenor solo make this a monster.
It's the only vocal piece on the James Moody CD, "Hi Fi Party" on Prestige.
Health & Peace,
Lance
Yeah, that's it!
Thanks,

Checked it out at Amazon.com and it's out of stock but you can click on all the
tunes and get a little taste. Hi-Fi Party version of Disappointed is there.
Looks like an interesting album...
Thanks for the tip!
