I've had enough people write me for this list so here it is...

This is a semi-complete listing of all the works of Pat Metheny since
discovered by Gary Burton (1973, Pat was 18). This list does not include
bootlegs and other rare recordings. If you add to or update this list,
please send the new list to the people listed below.
(we gave it to you so please send it back, use e-mail though.)

Thanks!

Kevin..

So has anyone had the nerve to phone the number given in the voice-over
on this cut?

(This may be one of those questions that appears every few years but I
dont recall ever seeing it in the last 6 or so since I've been reading.)

> 4. Estupenda Gracia 2:40

Is this a mutation of "Amazing Grace"? To me they sound very similar
(but then I'm just a very amateur musician :-). Most people tell me
I'm crazy and can't hear the similarity.

It's not a telephone number. My college roommate figured it out one day,
while listening to a cassette tape copy of it. It looks like he called out
the numbers on a tape deck at intervals -- the numbers seemed to match up
real close. Weird, huh?

The numbers are the amount of seconds into the song. On my CD player,
the numbers he calls out match the number of seconds past the minute
plus 5 (which accounts for a 5 second delay automatically put on the CD)

(I cant remember what he calls out but it went something like this:

Pat: CDPlayer:
48 x:53
54 x:59
02 (x+1):07

I think this explains it.)

That's interesting about the correspondence of the numbers with the
time -- I hadn't realized that. I still might wonder why he chose those
seven digits -- particularly considering there is a phone on the album cover,
and a track entitled "It's for You" (although the numbers appear on the
title track).

Gord.
