Sounds like he has sort of disappeared...I hope his album (19 years old now!) did well for him. I am listening to the "Shock Treatment" album (on cd) right now, and his tone and power, overall ease of execution are great! I also wonder about the altoist Lonnie Shetter who played on Don Ellis' "Live at Fillmore" album back in the early 1970s (or was it late 1960s?).Whatever happened to him? Great technique, as Ellis pointed out in his liner notes ("one of the outstanding technicians on his instrument")...But nothing heard from those guys nowadays....I do know the great lead trumpeter Mike Paulson as he has a brass instrument sales and repair shop in the North Seattle area ("Mike Paulson's Brass Masters") and he shares a lot of memories of his time with Don Ellis quite readily and happily! Hopefully they are still playing music in whatever community they are living in nowadays, and perhaps teaching, mentoring and sharing their wisdom and experiences with the new generation of horn players coming up...
