Anyone know where I can get a copy of Tony Bennett singing
I've Got the World on a String as he does in the movie
Analyse This?

Thanks!

I don't know how he sings it in the movie, but there's a great version
on his Sinatra tribute album "Perfectly Frank" on Columbia.

Thanks! I ran out and bot a copy during lunch and am listening to it
now. What a set of pipes!

However, in the movie this is the song which starts just before the
credits roll (in fact, Tony Bennet and his trio are performing it
in Billy Crystal's backyard). It's done at a medium tempo, something
close to the tempo Oscar Peterson does it on his late 50s recording
of the tune (with Ray Brown and Herb Ellis).

The version on this CD is a little slower.

Thanks again!

Well, I certainly wouldn't wish to dissuade you from appreciating a
great vocalist, so please enjoy to the fullest. But if you like
his pipes now, you owe it to yourself to seek out recordings from
the 1950s through the 1970s, when his voice was in top shape.
Truth is, with that previous voice in my head, I find it pretty hard
to listen to his gravelly 1990s voice. (Not as bad as Sinatra's
1990s voice, to be sure, but...)

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't hear that great a deterioration in
his voice over the years. I prefer his later recordings because there's a
warmth and emotional balance in them that I sometimes find lacking in his
earlier stuff. He's always had a great voice, but sometimes he's been too
overpowering for my taste. For whatever reason he doesn't have to dazzle us
anymore and I enjoy that.

There's most likely an "Analyze This" soundtrack CD.

I have to say that I actually like Tony Bennett's more recent work!
Just as an earlier poster stated, there seems to be more emotion and
less flash.

I asked this question a while ago, but while we're at it: Does anyone
know who the trumpet soloist is on his original verison of "I'll Be
Around"? Someone mentioned that it could've been Marky Markowitz, but
they weren't sure.

On another related topic: I heard that Tony Bennett was/is married to
an adult film star. Is this true? Who is she? I'm serious - not a
joke.

Later,
John

I'm 99.999% sure you are conflating (I think that's the right word) two
situations here. Tony is no such thing, HOWEVER, Margaret Whiting is
married to the (ex-) porn star Jack Wrangler.
